I think you could absolutely turn Fatu into a made man without having him win it. 

He's my favourite to get the "ironman" spot this year, and he'll chuck out a bunch of people doing it. Eventually getting bundled over the top rope (especially if it's by a number of top guys combining efforts) won't do anything to harm what has happened prior. Done right, a "lads, if we don't work together to get rid of this beast we're all fucked" elimination could strengthen the perception.

Heard the best suggestion for a spot involving Kofi tonight. He does a typical Kofi spot and somehow lands on one foot, but even the referees can’t stand these twats for what they did to Big E, so the refs themselves just push him over. Get fucked, you tit-less prick!
