Paid Members LaGoosh Posted January 30, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 30, 2025 (edited) To say he 100% deserves this is pretty funny because they put any fucker in that thing - you don't even need to do that much. It's a fake honour with no real credibility. One of the few non stupid things Bubba Ray ever said on his podcast was when he described it as just a show like Raw or Smackdown - it's not real. As a wrestler he was one of the greats in 2000 and deserves massive props for that year but most of his career has been dull as fuck. Very few (if any) wrestlers had their best match with Triple H, except Taka Michinoku maybe. A ridiculous, self important and dull character to watch. The bright spots are few and far between - however they were exceptionally bright. But yeah, this is going to more of the lots of smug, patting our own backs, fart smelling that they love to do at the moment. The cynical part of me thinks that maybe the big public push of Triple H as the face of WWE is just trying to distract people and make them forget about Vince McMahon. "We're a new company, everyone is happy, we have a lovely new boss who everyone likes Vince never existed! Nothing evil anymore here, honest....please don't look too closely!" However if they one day decide to posthumously induct Mike Awesome then I will 100% change my opinion and say how great the Hall of Fame is and deny I said any differently. I wouldn't say that's even being cynical. I think they've been very lucky with a lot of the timing of what's happened. If the Vince stuff had occurred when they were struggling as a company I think the treatment of WWE in general would've been a lot different. The fact that they're doing so well means they've got more good faith from people and has allowed them to operate more positively around it. And also the fact they had someone like HHH who was loved by a lot of fans that they were able to transition to. Quote
The Gaffer Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 I'd not even considered that him being front and centre of everything is a diversion from Vince. Not that he needs an excuse, but I'd say that's the right of it. He's essentially a new kind of super-face authority figure that's playing that role both within and outside the context of the TV show. All jokes aside though, trying to objectively appraise this is sort of insane. I would say he 100% deserves it, which is surely only buoyed by the fact that there's some crap in there rather than diminished by it. The guy's been pulling all the big levers both on and off camera for multiple generations of fans. He's absolutely, chronically, hilariously perfect to go into their Hall of Fame. Edge went in a year after his first retirement in his late thirties. This is actual Triple H. The most WWE person imaginable getting the most WWE honour imaginable. I mean - don't get me wrong - it's odd getting inducted when your Hell in a Cell with Shawn Michaels is literally still happening. Quote
Chili Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 Also Vince (and know I'm not defending him as a person) but tellingly from all you hear didn't ever want to be inducted and was extremely Vince-esq about being thanked (though that is a bit weird and more on him being odd). Triple H though, get me the fuck in!!! Brilliant stuff. He's so bloody humble. The speech is going to be hopefully an absolute classic because Triple H is famously known for his self awareness. Quote

Vince, apparently, refused to ever be put in when he was in charge at least in part because he was the one who decided who went in. Vince McMahon had more social awareness on this subject than Uncle Paul. Vince. Not a human trafficker though, so still in credit. Quote

I think as a fella he's lower than a worm's cock but to come out of the last three years smelling of roses, it's impossible to deny that the fella knows all about the game and how you play it. Quote
Paid Members DCW Posted January 30, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 30, 2025 (edited) Wonder what his hof entrance will be? does he dress up in his favoured king of kings chainmail and be carried in on his throne or dress down in a stylish leather/denim affair with his tricycle? whatever he chooses, it will definitely be humble. Auld Paul wouldn't want all that attention sure. Edited January 30, 2025 by DCW Quote
The Dart Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 Obviously he deserves to go in on his own merit, not just as part of DX. No doubt about that. It's just the timing that is comical. They couldn't just wait a couple more years. Also, that Vince McMahon wouldn't even allow himself to be mentioned in other people's speeches, let alone be inducted (I know Triple H doesn't actually run the company and is also a retired wrestler, so it's not a completely valid comparison, but it's still comical). And also, I 100% don't believe that he was not part of the decision. Quote

Beatles Now & Then style shitty deepfake of him being in the original Horsemen lineup. The works. Quote

To be fair he has a pretty crap record for WM so, unless people want him on some sort of Undertaker level losing streak which would have meant he was a threat to nobody, he’s had to get a couple of wins.
