I’m sure I wrote about this in a thread about wrestling annoyances a while back. Can’t stand the guy. Horrible knuckle tattoos, stupid hair, thinks he’s on Bobby Herman’s level. The only good thing he’s ever done is his genuine reaction to Titus O’Neill sliding under the ring. Maybe he can swap places with the far more talented Carmella and stay at home with their kid.

He looks like someone who's been banned from multiple hardcore punk scenes for being a creep, I don't actually dislike him as a commentator, he's just there as a pretty generic heel guy most of the time I've heard him without being offensively bad.

I wonder when the work began? Was he working all the other times he looked like a dickhead on Twitter?  Was becoming noticeably shitter at the desk recently also in preparation for an angle?

Gutted if it is a work though. I was hoping to see and hear less of him, not more! I also think they’ve vastly overestimated how much people care if this is leading to a Wrestlemania match. I’m usually bang up for an announcer being pushed to their limits, standing up for themselves, and getting involved in a scrap, but Graves? Couldn’t give a shit. Not interested in cheering or booing him.

Was he ever actually any good in the ring? Is there something there worth getting excited about?

Not being a regular viewer of WWE the past few years, I can't comment on his recent work. But I actually used to quite like him. Thought his work on NXT was fresh at the time compared to the rest of the WWE commentators and then thought he was half decent on the main roster too. Can't quite remember it now but there was a line he made to Byron once about the Bayley buddies that killed me at the time. 

I think I just have a high tolerance for commentators in general though, and if they're bad I find them quite easy to tune out. The only ones that have actively ruined a show for me are Matt Striker (I'm marking out bro!) and Mauro Ranallo.

Graves does seem like a massive poser but then he's going home to Carmella so it's obviously working for him.
