Corey Graves Throws a Wobbler

I know it was just him repeating what his billionaire boss was saying down his headset (how very “punk rock,” of him), but it is quite fitting that Corey was the one making all those snide remarks about Sasha and Naomi when they walked out.

Calling them, “unprofessional,” and explaining how they’d, “disappointed,” the WWE Universe.

What about the NXT Universe, Corey? What about your fans who were excited to hear you call the show?*

*Rhetorical. I know these people don’t exist.

I remember him as Sterling James Keenan. His look was probably the only thing about him that worked, and even then he looked like he was simultaneously trying to rip off CM Punk and Jeff Hardy.

His MK Ultra finish was shite as well.

Wasn't that a Sunset Driver? I always loved that. When I loved head drops. The air raid crash was my favourite. I think people guessed that, once upon a time.

Air Raid Crash is great, but when you fold the guy's legs under your arms, all of a sudden the only reason he's hanging from you is because he's holding on to you. I'm aware there are plenty of "assisted" moves, but most of them work with the illusion that the guy doing them is superhuman enough to pull it off - in the case of the MK Ultra, it's obvious that all the opponent has to do is let go.

I dunno - there are just some moves that bug me more than others, I suppose.

It was always an angle. Guys like Graves (and Miz) will never go against the grain or express an independent thought publicly. There's no way Graves has the balls to vent on Twitter about being even mildly unsatisfied with his job.

I think all we know for certain is he definitely tried to make it an angle.

But I'd err on the side of it not being one, given he said he had a 'lot to say' on NXT and then he was left off the show.

Maybe I'm too hopeful for WWE, but I'd hope they're smart enough to not waste money or time or energy on an angle literally no one would care about. Not one person is a Corey Graves fan.

The most interesting he's ever been is when his ex wife called him a little willy'd cheater on Twitter or whatever drama happened then.

WWE on their hottest run in decades and they decide to possibly give Corey Graves a Wrestlemania match if this is an angle instead of chucking him on one of the Saudi shows like he deserves. Don't ruin your goodwill lads.

That's an angle we haven't thought of! They've got even bigger shows coming up in Suadi, like the 2026 Royal Rumble and CM Punk has been vocal in the past about their Saudi presence. So get Graves off TV long enough for people to forget him (about five seconds should do) and then have him work the Saudi shows and only shoot the matches form far away and hope nobody can tell the difference.

To be fair, CM Punk's finisher name is inspired by Corey Graves entire personality, wrestling style and presentation.

Definitely more in the Saraya being cleared to wrestle category than the Bryan Danielson.

He got a lot of sympy early on in 1PW after AJ Styles dropped him on his head doing the Styles Clash as a receipt for getting stiffed earlier in the match. After that he was pretty over with the regular going 1PW crowd.

I don’t recall ever seeing him wrestle outside of 1PW except for one ROH match, and even then I seem to recall that being pretty short to set up someone’s else’s angle.

Ive never thought he’s a bad commentator, but the standard was so fucking low for so long that it didn’t take much to appear good either. He’s a proper company yes man though, always has been

I don't really understand why you would be such a spanner and throw this wobbly. Changes to broadcasting have been happening for years at a moments notice. 

Its not like McAfee hangs around too long. Do the time in NXT, enjoy a lighter schedule and then get back onto the top show when it's time. Hence I still think angle.
