d-d-d-dAz Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 Any time anyone in wrestling wants to say 'shit' but has to use a softer phrase, it's a sign that the bottom of the barrel is being scraped. Dookie, indeed. Glad both companies are unwatchable whilst I'm off work with plenty of time to watch wrestling. That's good of them. Quote
Merzbow Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 It's at the point where it's far too easy for me to just drop AEW for months on end now, it's almost expected. I don't think a company has ever been so consistently inconsistent in it's quality. I've got FREEDOMS to catch up on anyway for a while and I'm digging back into old Battlarts so they'll do me until things pick up again for All In. Quote
Chili Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 (edited) Wasn't a fan of that beyond the Eight Man, Hangman's bit, Toni Storm buckling the announcers so much they were just losing composure and Shelton calling MJF little George Costanza. Edited April 10, 2025 by Chili Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted April 10, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted April 10, 2025 I dunno, apart from the Bucks stuff and Omega's promo I thought it was ok. Not blowaway or hugely memorable but I was entertained enough by it. Toni Storm, the womens match, Megan Bayne's outfit, Hangman/Nana and the 8 man tag were brilliant. The rest was either fine or bad but not horrendously bad. Quote
King Mal the Glorious Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 Same here, Bucks/Omega promo was a dud ("dookie"? Really Kenny?) but even that led into other things that were better. The rest of the show was pretty good, 8 man tag in particular was very enjoyable. SRS has reported Pac is legit injured, hope it's not serious. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted April 10, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted April 10, 2025 Yeah as ropey as those promos were I'd be lying if I said the prospect of the Young Bucks and Okada vs Hangman, Swerve and Omega didn't excite me. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted April 10, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 10, 2025 (edited) On Monday, Seth Rollins, to Paul Heyman: "You are between a rock and a hard place. The easiest solution for all of us would be if you just removed yourself from the situation entirely and let me, and Punk, and Roman battle it out - at Wrestlemania - for the SOUL OF THIS INDUSTRY." On Wednesday, Kenny Omega, to the Young Bucks: "When I came back to AEW, what I was doing was for my legacy and THE SAFETY OF THIS COMPANY. What we're trying to do here is RESTORE THE FEELING." I'm begging someone to fight over shampoo. Edited April 10, 2025 by Supremo Quote

Paid Members LaGoosh Posted April 11, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted April 11, 2025 Speaking of hair, people talking shit about this weeks episode as if it didn't have the spot of the year: Ricochet doing his somersault dive out the ring onto his feet spot only to be immediately surrounded by babyfaces who in unison slap him on his bald head. This spot alone basically counter balanced Kenny Omega's "dookie" promo. Quote

Not saying you're wrong here but I think on the other hand AEW are clearly building Ospreay up to be the number one babyface sooner rather than later and even though he might not need the pin or it might help others I can see the logic behind making sure your next top guy gets the shine whenever possible. Top babyfaces should win and win a lot. It's like if The Rock, Stone Cold or John Cena were ever in a multi-person tag where they teamed with some mid-carders they would still 9/10 times be the ones who hit the winning move, got the pin and had their music playing. It's just good business. Quote
The King Of Swing Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 (edited) Meh outside of the Bucks/Omega promo going on forever (a problem I've had with AEW for ages) I wasn't as down on that episode as others. Though I wasn't expecting much, going in. %100 agree with @tiger_rick that the Owen matches should have been on Dynamite. I'm assuming that Pac got injured for real. Samoa Joe should never come out to anything other than his entrance music. That Opps theme is rubbish. I'm already at the 'where do they even fit in?' point with Bailey and Knight. Storm was of course a highlight. Edited April 11, 2025 by The King Of Swing Quote
King Mal the Glorious Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 Agreed on The Opps' theme. The crowd chanting along to Joe's theme is great, if they wanted a change they could have just done a slightly different version of that. Quote
Paid Members RedTwoster Posted April 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 13, 2025 That was a brilliant episode of Collision, completely washing away the misery that was this week’s Dynamite. I’m a bit surprised that Mone/Athena is taking place this soon, clearly I’d not paid attention to the tournament brackets as I’d assumed that would be the final. FTR were good, but Adam Cole’s group can just piss off. Roderick Strong is probably my least favourite act in wrestling right now. They’re definitely on to something with Megan Bayne, and I’m curious as to what the end game might be. I’m generally not an advocate for more titles, but I do think they should consider a women’s tag division - they have so many talented female wrestlers that it has a very good chance of succeeding. Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted April 13, 2025 Awards Moderator Posted April 13, 2025 (edited) This show felt like a good showcase for how great the women’s division is at the moment. In what must have been less than 60 seconds, Toni Storm made me interested in every single possible winner of the Owen Hart cup. She’s on another level right now. Edited April 13, 2025 by HarmonicGenerator The promo isn’t online yet but it’s just after the FTR opening segment Quote
