Tremendous news!

On top of that, hell of a card for Dynamite this week in a beautiful little venue that will be packed out. Hope it delivers!

After years of watching Tony Khan take the bait, it’s brilliant to see him completely no- selling WWE’s daily references to, “the billionaire’s son,” both on and off screen. It’s literally every WWE TV show and WWE press interview right now.

Tony’s their fucking main character during Wrestlemania week, whilst he’s just silently releasing the Arena Mexico news and booking matches like Ospreay vs. Takeshita and Athena vs. Mercedes.

Triple H hasn’t seen offence no-sold like this since The Ultimate Warrior at Mania 12.

So why have WWE started to make  almost constant references to AEW on their TV and in press interviews and all that?

Do they have some internal info that has unsettled them about AEW and that's why they've decided to go on the attack? Are the MAX numbers for AEW doing good enough to have got under their skin or something?

I know WWE are still in a totally dominant position but it's bizarre. It's ramped up this week but they've been making daft references and snidey jabs at AEW for a few months now.

It's starting to be a bit of a Wrestlemania week tradition to slag AEW off for some reason. Fucking weird. Almost like they want to distract everyone from their big UK and Mexico show announcements.

The "billionaires son" stuff is particularly funny when you consider that the head of WWE is only there because he's the son in law of a billionaire and that billionaire was only there because he bought the company off his own Daddy (using his dad's money to do so). Absolutely deranged levels of self delusion in that rotten, evil company.

With all the money they're making I don't know why they care. You know Vince never gave a shit about AEW.

Some quick guesses as to the Wild Card who’ll face Hangman Adam Page.

As a celebration of beating WCW Nitro and sticking it to all the grifters, they fly in Disco Inferno. Proving that he’s an absolute loser with no actual conviction, who’ll do anything for a quick pay off, Disco agrees to come in and get squashed to fuck by Hangman. It’s sold as a Gillberg-at-Survivor-Series-1998 joke booking, orchestrated by The Young Bucks, to curry favour with Hangman. It doesn’t work. Hangman smashes Disco in ten seconds and tells the Bucks to get fucked.

Or you go the other way. It’s revealed that The Young Bucks want to fuck with Hangman so they use their, “power,” to do Hangman vs. Swerve. It’s a huge, tentpole Dynamite after all. Why not do something massive. Only the whole thing back fires. Hangman and Swerve wrestle a belter, Hangman wins clean, but they earn each other’s respect and shake hands afterwards. Babies are thrown in the air. Hangman Adam Page is healed.

Or Jack Perry. Whatever.

Is there a reason it won’t be Jarrett as the “Chosen One” as the nod to WCW? Hangman beats him, Jarrett says Hanger needs to forgive himself. Hanger doesn’t accept like last week, but it feels close and we move onto Fletcher vs Hangman.

What you have to remember about WWE is they are like Trump (sorry to bring him up, I'm sorry) or any aware grifter shite, that they know they are crooked as fuck when they want to be and don't really give a toss that people know and are happy to say that others do that when they apparently don't. But they believe they are right as well, because any competition while healthy is genuinely offensive to them and the culture they've been curated in through Vince running it. How fucking dare they exist when we do. They know and are aware that Vince bought the WWF from his old man and it's the same thing essentially, but they're not going to admit that and don't care that people bring it up because they will always be the market leader unless something unprecidented and mental happens and then still they'll be the known brand. But they do know, they absolutely know.

Anyway, I'd like for a bit of shithousery from AEW tonight tbh and bring up a few times that they're on TV longer than Nitro now. Just because you'll be able to hear Eric Bischoff throwing a whining paddy all the way over the Wyoming Prairie.

Deranged levels of self delusion applies to every wrestling promoter ever, and of course Vince cared about AEW. Vince was as thin skinned as a 93 year old leprosy sufferer. Everything was a challenge to him, even sleep.

All timer episode. Top tier. The perfect victory lap.

Turns out that the billionaire’s son is actually quite good at putting on pro-wrestling shows.

That was a cracking show, although I hope that’s not the last we’ve seen of Mercedes/Athena - that was a dream match for me, and I want the pair to have a proper feud, which felt like it was on the cards at one point.

It was also a bold choice to end the show with the trios match given what came before it. The six wrestlers must have been bricking themselves, having to follow that.

I hope Hook’s OK, given that he was sick last week.

I loved the Ospreay/Takeshita match, and I really want to see Takeshita elevated to a more consistent main event position soon - he’s absolutely incredible. This has been the best ever year for the Owen Hart tournament, and it feels like they’re taking is much more seriously than usual - which they should. Make it an event to look forward to.

Josh Alexander joining AEW is what it is. I’m not enormously arsed about them signing more male wrestlers, I want to see the women’s division consistently get more time and every signing like this reduces the chances of that. He’s very talented, but I’m not sure they need him. Time will tell.

A terrific episode of Dynamite this week, that Mercedes/Athena opener was great as was the rest of the show top marks. Hanger leaping over the crowd was a lovely spot and Ospreay/Takashita was incredible. Agree with the above the Owen feels a great tournament and important as it should

To put a show like this on the Wednesday before Mania keeps AEW in everyone's mind

The venue is a great choice too, more of these type of venues

I've got a bit more time for some like Alexander than, say, Speedball, as I think he's a bit less of what AEW is filled with.

But yeah, absolutely cracking show, and I'm thrilled especially for Hobbs, who was just getting lost in the shuffle again. Spending time with Joe will hopefully help him loads.

That’s true, it’s fair to say that he offers something different and I’m more into seeing someone less established join the company than most departing WWE wrestlers.
