Paid Members RedTwoster Posted April 28, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 28, 2025 I really enjoy Kevin Knight. I can’t put my finger on what it is exactly as he’s barely established a personality, but he’s been the new signing I’ve enjoyed most - if he does manage to carve together some form of character, I could see him going far. The all-star tag match looks like it could be a lot of fun - I never knew I wanted to see Mark Briscoe interact with Okada until this was announced! 20 hours ago, Mr_Danger said: There’s no way MJF doesn’t become the biggest face on the roster if he joins The Hurt Syndicate and gets to bounce off Bob every week. He’s in that Eddie Guerrero position where the crowd love his schtick but if he does the straight heel nasty prick stuff he’s nowhere near as over. That cock knock was tremendous. While I think a Pinnacle reformation might be on the cards, I do think the best course of action might just be to do what you’re suggesting. As a heel he seems incapable of moving his character on and doing something different, so maybe he should just have a go at it as a babyface, playing in to the fact he’s an arsehole rather than looking slightly vulnerable emotionally in the way he did last time round. d-d-d-dAz Posted April 29, 2025 Posted April 29, 2025 (edited) Have caught up with Collision and Dynamite properly, now. I figure if I'm going to Glasgow and the O2, I may as well dial in rather than just watching the big stuff. I enjoyed both shows, but I think - given I'd read this thread in advance - I was slightly surprised how much I enjoyed Collision. Good, old fashioned TV wrestling. I enjoyed the Swerve opener (what a star), Max Caster match, the Toni Storm match was fun, I enjoyed the Rooosh squash and the main event was good too. Just good fun, easy to follow wrestling. The only thing I didn't like was Kyle O'Reilly. Good grief he looks awful, like a Dementer sucked the joy out of Bob Backlund and he hasn't slept thinking about it. *edit* that's not fair, actually, the Lio Rush match with all the weapons left me cold. I didn't not like it necessarily, it just left me cold. Edited April 29, 2025 by d-d-d-dAz Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted April 30, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted April 30, 2025 Hangman Page is wrestling in his hometown this week. And it's against excellent wrestler and the top heel around today Kyle Fletcher. This might be the best match of the year. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted April 30, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 30, 2025 The man who sets fire to his enemy’s homes, doing some wholesome local press. I love pro-wrestling. Quote

I’d been slightly worried we were heading for another Ospreay/Fletcher match, but given that it’s in Hangman’s hometown - which I hadn’t realised - we’re surely getting a Hangman win. They can do Ospreay/Fletcher again when Will wins the title, and possibly even put the belt on him. Quote

Joe Blog Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 They have gone over the top on the air brushing with Ricochet, from the mouth up he looks just like Milky from This is England. Quote
Olly1984 Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 Looks another cracker of an episode, fingers crossed Hangman beats Fletcher. Also really looking forward to Storm/ Yamashita, hope it gets decent time as could be a banger. Quote
thatvinylgeek Posted May 1, 2025 Posted May 1, 2025 I'm calling shenanigans at Double or Nothing and a Osprey v Hangman v Mox triple threat at All In, which would be lovely stuff...Tony loves to try to one up WWE matches. Quote

I'd say there is almost zero chance of this. And the general gulf in quality between WWE and AEW match wise is pretty significant. I don't think Tony Khan tries to "one up" WWE matches - they're just better. Quote
d-d-d-dAz Posted May 1, 2025 Posted May 1, 2025 First full show in a while, really enjoyed it. A big focus on wrestling, which I liked. The opening 8 man was great, lots of end-of-the-pier style silliness. I thought Okada maybe looked a bit off the pace at times, but other than that just a lot of fun. Toni Storm is my favourite female wrestler to watch. Again, brings a blend of fun and seriousness which hits the spot for me. Fast forwarded the Jay Lethal match because who cares? Really enjoyed the main event. Kyle Fletcher looks like an absolute megastar, and Ospreay v Hangman has banger written all over it. Samoa Joe is still the best. I'm fairly sure Mox was supposed to hang around in the crowd for the promo segment, but props to Joe for just shouting at where someone should have been stood. Quote
digforvictory Posted May 1, 2025 Posted May 1, 2025 (edited) Well it was just more of the same really. Another really good episode of wrestling, great matches and logical storyline advancements. I know I keep saying it but AEW just seems so focused at the minute, particularly with the top level guys. It was rumoured Tony Khan knew who the first 4 AEW World Champions would be even before the first AEW show, it was all planned out in advance. There's a similar feel to that at the minute. Even when something goes wrong like PAC getting injured, It actually worked out for the better because Joe making Mox pass out to win the Trios titles felt even bigger. Also added juice to their World title match in a few weeks. And Hook getting injured meant Hobbs came in to replace him, and Hobbs is miles better and fits into the group better too. With the Owen tournament ongoing it's left Toni without a feud and I think a lot of other wrestlers in that position would have faded into the background a little bit but she's Toni Storm and she's amazing and she's beloved and she is just going out on each show and having good little matches and entertaining everyone. You can tell she knows she's killing it and she's a star and it's great to watch. She's also genuinely very funny, her dancing to Hayters music in the ring was great. I really don't want to get all tribalist and all that shit, but when you compare the current PPV card for Backlash and the current card for Double or Nothing it's night and day. Double or Nothing already looks like it'll be a banger and there's only 2 matches announced. Edited May 1, 2025 by digforvictory Quote

Like @LaGoosh I don’t think that’s true, and even if it was, they’ve kind of done that already with the triple threat at their last PPV. Besides, a bullshit finish would be a bad idea, and piss off the audience in a way you wouldn’t really want. Im absolutely buzzing for Ospreay/Hangman though, that’ll be an absolute banger. I have to say, I’m not as big a fan of Kyle Fletcher as others on here. He’s undoubtedly an incredible wrestler, but I’m yet to be won over by him as a character. It’s almost certainly in part because of my strong dislike of Don Callis, he’s dog shit. The women’s division continues to be brilliant, and as much as I want to see Storm/Mone at All In, I have mixed feelings about that - I’d very much like to see the match main event given the magnitude of it, big if Ospreay is winning the title, I don’t see that happening. And it’s entirely justifiable in this case, if he’s winning the world title, you immediately undermine him by bumping him from the top spot, while Storm and Mone are already well established. That said, if one or both of them hasn’t main evented a PPV by the close of the year, it’s a bit of a failing by Tony Khan and team. Quote

This is the kind of post that gets you judo chopped. When Callis was cutting his promo I was thinking about just how far the Callis family has come. From feuding over Sammy Guevera of all people to having Josh Alexander, a fully evolved Kyle Fletcher and Takeshita, Archer as a heater, wonderful. Ok they still have Baretta and Romero, but everyone needs some proper mooks. Quote
