King Mal the Glorious Posted May 1, 2025 Posted May 1, 2025 I've never disliked Don, but he/the family are definitely much better at the moment than they were for a long while. Hangman has to be in the conversation for being one of the best wrestlers of the modern era, right? I legit can't think of a match he's had that was any less than "good". Quote

It's not just the match quality either. He has everything. Promo's, charisma, the right look and has shown he can work as a main event babyface or heel. I don't blame him for mugging off CM Punk. He knew what he was doing with his career and how he would get there. Edited May 1, 2025 by Cousin Jim Bob Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted May 1, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 1, 2025 I very much dislike Don Callis. In the way they want me to. If I divorce myself from the stories told I would say I am a fan of what he does, but he's one of the talents who makes me react in the way (I assume) AEW wants. Quote

When Callis was cutting his promo I was thinking about just how far the Callis family has come. From feuding over Sammy Guevera of all people to having Josh Alexander, a fully evolved Kyle Fletcher and Takeshita, Archer as a heater, wonderful. Ok they still have Baretta and Romero, but everyone needs some proper mooks. I (mostly) don’t mind the wrestlers in the stable, but Callis himself brings nothing to the table; outside of the aftertaste of unsavoury allegations. I think the show would be better without him. Paid Members LaGoosh Posted May 2, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted May 2, 2025 It took awhile for them to get there but I also enjoy the Don Callis Family stuff right now. Trent is a terrible fit for the group and it's a shame that Cage and Davis are injured but I think it's mostly working pretty well at the moment. A stable of monsters for the smaller babyfaces to bounce off has great value. I hope they get some more substantial stories going forwards. I also really enjoy how much Don and Tony Schiavone hate eachother. Quote

I can’t put my finger on what it is exactly as he’s barely established a personality, but he’s been the new signing I’ve enjoyed most - if he does manage to carve together some form of character, I could see him going far There's a youthful and earnest energy to him that's definitely appealing. I think if I was 9 years old he'd probably be my new favourite wrestler (and I mean that as a compliment). Edited May 2, 2025 by LaGoosh Quote

Paid Members LaGoosh Posted May 2, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted May 2, 2025 (edited) Watching that fun 8 man got me thinking on how I, at times, enjoy the Young Bucks heel shtick but that here Ricochet was doing the same shtick and was so much more natural and effective at it. He's great. Crazy that we now live in a world where John Cena finally turned heel but RICOCHET of all people is like ten times better at it than he is. Edited May 2, 2025 by LaGoosh Quote

USPTO TSDR Case Viewer Supremo raised my hopes, you turned them back into Copes. Booo. Very much enjoyed that episode, the opener was great, as was the main event. Each match showed off the great work they’ve done with Ricochet and with Fletcher, who feels firmly like a top player now. The only point of the show where I zoned out was Wayne/Lethal, but even that is likely to go somewhere interesting with Christian involved. Quote
Infinity Land Posted May 2, 2025 Posted May 2, 2025 Really thought this was a joke when I saw the graphic. It's real though. 3 Dynamites and 3 Collisions at the old ECW arena with an ROH show thrown in. So many shows you'd have think some sort of deal done with the city. It's also around the time that All Out would traditionally happen with Labor Day weekend in amongst the dates. https://www.allelitewrestling.com/aew-events Quote

Hangman, Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin, Mark Briscoe and Kyle Fletcher to name just a few of them. It's pretty incredible. Interesting about the 2300 residency. It's a pretty character-less and small building so hopefully they put some extra effort in to make it more visually interesting for television. Big bleachers to pack the screen with fans would do it. The King Of Swing Posted May 3, 2025 Posted May 3, 2025 Bin off Wayne/Lethal and that was a rock solid episode of Dynamite. Really enjoyed Storm Vs. Miyu. MJF/Hurt Syndicate segment was much better than the last couple. Quote
