Paid Members FLips Posted January 12, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 12, 2025 I thought Death Riders were taking over the company? Why are people (even heels) teaming with them? Quote
Chili Posted January 12, 2025 Posted January 12, 2025 Actually I just realised Jericho is in the main event again, and retract my statement. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted January 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 13, 2025 What a two-punch combo for Piss Jericho! First, that unbelievably bad performance on Collision, where he wrestled the majority of the match in slow motion, then the release of that graphic, with him teaming up with The Death Riders. What a sad little life, Chris. No hot acts left, so he’s left globbing on to dead, lifeless shite. Speaking of the Plastic Bag Bandits, it was only on this show that I remembered Claudio, PAC and Yuta were the Trios Champions! I’d honestly forgotten. Have they ever defended those belts? Or even teamed as a Trio? Only Tony Khan would put PAC in a main event angle, in the top heel faction, making him a Trios Champion, yet still let him vanish every other week, presumably as a Season Ticket holder for St. James’ Park. And where the fuck are the actual Trios belts? Are they in Moxley’s briefcase, too? Is it like Narnia in there? Ask Mr. Tumnus how to successfully pivot out of a dead, flawed Company Takeover angle. I saw Fightful report yesterday that Darby has been written off for a few months as he trains to climb Everest. Surely we aren’t going to drag this out until he returns. Months more of this shit?! Fuck that. Stick on Cope. Stick it on Hobbs. Anything is better than continuing this until Darby (hopefully) returns! Quote
DavidB6937 Posted January 13, 2025 Posted January 13, 2025 Dared to step on X for a bit and yeah that match is going down as well as expected. Viewed over a million times in 8 hours (way more than TK's usual) so he's probably happy at the publicity at least but yeah a lot of the replies are pretty brutal. As you'd expect, lots of "huh that doesn't make sense" and "oh god not him again." Maybe Jericho has achieved the impossible and brought wrestling fans together. Quote
The King Of Swing Posted January 13, 2025 Posted January 13, 2025 Hopefully Mox puts his plastic bag to good use. Quote
Paid Members Callum1993 Posted January 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 13, 2025 I’d never really gotten massively into AEW before attending All In last year. There were people and stories I liked there sure but couldn’t get into the whole thing. All In was such a great show and an overall fantastic weekend. I thought coming out of that I’d be sticking with AEW on a weekly basis. Typical for them to put out the most turgid shit on a weekly basis since then. Something needs to change because they feel as cold as ever at the moment. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted January 13, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted January 13, 2025 (edited) That Hangman promo was heartbreaking - imagine how good we'd have it if this character had won the title after All Out instead of Wacky Dean Ambrose. Devastating. It's flat out ruining any enjoyment of AEW for me, knowing what could have been. Edited January 13, 2025 by LaGoosh Quote
Paid Members WeeAl Posted January 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 13, 2025 Yeah Khan needs to find his way out of this and quick. He has no intention of doing that obviously, or Hobbs wouldn't have won the battle royale on Dynamite - love Will Hobbs but Khan's not putting the belt on him. I'd forgotten there was a PPV in February before Revolution. Throw the Aussies a bone and do the title switch there, whoever it may be, and kill this angle dead. Hated Omega's new entrance. Thought it was going to work well as an intro to his theme kicking in as he stood in the tunnel. Such a damp squib. I've got to think he's going to bust through Archer and Cage quick sharp in order to team with Ospreay against Fletcher and Takeshita in Australia. Then probably the singles matches at Revolution, where Kenny probably takes the International title. The Callis stuff is bound to be wrapped up by then. Is All In Texas in June/July? Kenny and partner Vs Young Bucks at Double or Nothing and then Kenny/Okada at All In? That would work. Enjoyed MJF/Jarrett interacting. That should be good going forward. Also liked the opener and that it seems to be signalling that Malaki has evaporated. Thanks be to God for that. I have no time for Bobby Lashley as a prominent singles in this promotion, but I can certainly go for him and Shelton winning these tag belts to give them some value and direction again. On board with that. My hope for the casino battle royale didn't happen (Copeland to win, to blow off his title shot early). With some crafty booking though maybe Hobbs can come out of his loss to Moxley strong enough for whatever he'll be transitioning to. Which needs to be a feud he can win. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted January 13, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted January 13, 2025 Just found out that Maximum Carnage has only sold 1500 tickets and that they also only announced the show and put tickets on sale THREE WEEKS before the show. Absolute madness. Quote
JimmyAnderson Posted January 13, 2025 Posted January 13, 2025 Hobbs wins. As he’s celebrating, Fletcher hits him in the eye with the screwdriver and Christian cashes in his contract. Callis then reveals that his Family and the Patriarchy have joined forces because every family needs a good Father figure but part of the deal is Fletcher gets a shot at the title in Australia. At Grand Slam Fletcher wins and the Callis family turn on Christian because they never wanted him anyway they just didn’t want Hobbs as champion. As they’re kicking his arse, Hobbs, Omega, Ospreay and Cope come down to make the save leading to a 5 on 5 (either a returning Trent Beretta or just for giggles Jericho) match at Revolution with the stipulation that if the Family win, their opponents can never challenge for any title that the Family hold but if the Family lose they must disband for good. It also shows that Cincinatti native Mox is not a draw in his home town. Quote

Absolute madness. Its even messier than that. Mid-November they announced a slate into early 2025. Which was quite a change for them. Smaller buildings, dates going into March. Seemed a bit of a progression. https://www.allelitewrestling.com/post/aew-announces-winter-live-events-for-2024-2025 Wednesday 15th January was blank. Thursday 16th January had a Collision taping in Louisville. Few weeks later they announce the Cincinnati Dynamite. Week after that Louisville Collision is cancelled and the date is moved to Cincinnati. Don't worry they slapped "Maximum Carnage" on the shows. So that's sold a bucketload of tickets. So yeah, a month's notice that AEW was coming to town. Tickets have only been on sale a few weeks at most. Then made sure its 2 days of tapings to undercut the turnout. No idea why they didn't just turn it into a double taping of Dynamite/Collision. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted January 13, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 13, 2025 It was only right now that I realised the HBO Max pun in, “Maximum Carnage.” And they say pro-wrestling is for morons… Quote

Absolute madness. Fuck me. This is the bit I find heartbreaking. I'm nowhere near as down on AEW as some people. That big 12 man tag only has one person in it that I really detest, Jericho, obviously. The rest are all absolutely fine. But watching these shows that feel so downmarket nearly kills any hard-on. I don't care about any competition with WWE because I was never stupid enough to think they were on the same level. However, I do care that WWE can put out a 3-hour advert for Netflix and it feels like the SuperBowl while AEW put out a mostly great wrestling show week in, week out and it feels like a primary school football match. In England. In winter. There are plenty of elements to it from injuries to talent fallouts to WWE themselves being very good at what they do but, there's a bunch of sheer incompetence that undermines them and continues long after all the other excuses have been exhausted.
