Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted January 16, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 16, 2025 At this stage I think Jon Moxley's doing this to find ways to make me hate him even more with each passing week. Same old shit. A waste of fucking time. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted January 16, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted January 16, 2025 (edited) A somewhat solid show on it's own merit but hardly exciting enough to get me buzzing for next week. I really liked the look of the venue. The main event was a good match but fuck me I've just had enough of this. If you look at the story and other stories that have happened since this angle started you can easily see how there could have been something good here but alas. And the usual expected "Tribal Chief" Dean Ambrose interference ending. Womens Casino Gauntlet was fun. The women's roster is really strong and I'd like to see them featured more. Willow Nightingale - I can never say enough good words about her. She's brilliant. She makes every moment matter. I love her. When she did her little pose after diving off the apron my heart melted. I genuinely think 80% of AEW's problems could pretty much be solved by just pushing her as the face of the company. I skipped MJF/Jarrett. Life's too short for that. I also skipped the six man because it's 2025 and Private Party are so rubbish and shouldn't be on TV. EDIT: Fantasy booking - instead of just going back to the extremely tired old well of Omega vs Callis they should have had Samoa Joe return and attack Kenny at the end of last weeks show. An instant new, exciting and fresh big time program for both men. Edited January 16, 2025 by LaGoosh Quote

There are so many exciting options with that roster. Quote
Chili Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 Fair play to MJF, taking Jeff Jarrett down to your level. Always finding ways to be innovative I suppose. Megan Bayne gave off real snoo snoo vibes. Approve. You know how we all wanted Jon Moxley to get his well deserved holiday. Well actually we were fucking idiots weren't we. He had his big Benidorm break between Forbidden Door & All Out and this is the shite he came up with whilst sipping his non alcy cocktails by the pool. 'So, basically I play this chicken shit, but I can't stress enough, we need make sure the audience know I'm still proper hard though. They mustn't forget I'm like dead solid.' OH, DID MARINA SHAFIR INTERFERE AGAIN AND NO WOMEN IN THE COMPANY DO A THING? JUST BRING IN BETH PHOENIX SO WE CAN ALL RIGHTLY COMPLAIN ABOUT THAT BECAUSE FUCK OFF THAT'S WHAT THEY'LL PROBABLY DO. Also Edge & FTR, bit late lads. Will Hobbs should be rightly furious with them for that. Undisputed Kingdom wanting gold in 2025? Great, more threats the viewer doesn't need. Give them the ROH Trios belts and bolt the door. It's genuinely astonishing how utterly cold they are. I don't think anyone isn't trying mind. They're all trying, and I don't want anyone losing their jobs, but there is about a quarter of this roster I would completely bin or change about and that's not even beginning to include ROH, who have more recently became a much more separate thing as it should. On a lighter note, well done to Toni Storm winning the Gauntlet. She's only had a few matches on TV, so it's nice they're giving her the big push. I really think they've got something special with her. Quote

After reading this, I checked Cagematch and I was really surprised to see that they’ve only wrestled once, on a random indie show in 2007. I’d love to see them lock up. Quote
Chili Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 Oh and if that Corey Graves shite isn't an angle and he talks himself out a job and AEW pick him up I'm simply giving up and just watching old WCW Nitros again. The only time I'll lay eyes on him is if he ends up on Hey Ew! and gets absolutely rinsed. That's IF they do, because they would, wouldn't they? Tony Khan will read some computer data metric and think it's a good idea. DON'T. It would be weird not watching AEW or WWE and my only frame of current wrestling being 'just watch the Adam Page bits.' Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted January 16, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 16, 2025 A good show that would have been really good in front of a louder crowd. The matches just didn't click because no-one was that arsed. Same as the Ricochet interview. It was the right reaction but just so meek. Commentators had to tell the story too much. Just didn't feel big enough. Women's gauntlet was great. Pissed on the men's one last week. Good spots, a fun debut, people brawling on the outside instead of laying around. Willow getting the pop of the night. Mariah's "What does she have for breakfast? Babies?" line slaying me. Absolutely great stuff. 12 stars. Big picture, Kenny staying involved with Callis isn't what I want but I'd forgotten about the Aussie PPV. I guess they need something big for Kyle to be involved in. If it's going to be Kyle & Takeshita vs. Kenny & Will Ospreay, or Kyle v Kenny, get it announced quick. Can't disagree with much on the Moxley discussion that's ongoing. They need to find a way to change course quickly. Such a shame because Mox is still the best wrestler in the game by a country mile. Incredible babyface, the best promo, can do everything. So miscast. Quote

So miscast. And that's what I don't get - it's the fact that Mox (for me, whether he's babyface OR heel) is incredibly easy to book as a straight forward badass and everyone loves him. Everyone legitimately buys into him and wants to watch what he's doing. He's not someone that needs a ton of smoke and mirrors to make interesting or any particularly clever booking. So I really don't know how we ended up here. Quote

Paid Members LaGoosh Posted January 16, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted January 16, 2025 I'm not always his biggest fan but I think even looking at it objectively Mox has clearly had significantly more good and memorable matches and promos over the past 5 years than the vast majority of wrestlers have or will have over their entire careers. Chili Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 Yeah I loathe the current Mox run but he was really great until this. His first title run, him and Eddie Kingston doing the buddy cop stuff, the period where he just kept bleeding every match. It was all very good but the Death Riders has hurt his aura somewhat. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted January 16, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 16, 2025 Always loved Dean Ambrose. Always loved Jon Moxley. Which is why this Death Riders run is so depressing. It’s so, so rubbish. Not to worry though. A new top candidate to dethrone Moxley has appeared. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted January 16, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted January 16, 2025 They should sack off half the men's roster, bin ROH and then turn Collision into the women's show. With this women's roster they've put together and Willow on top I'd watch it. But nah, I'm sure they've already got Britt Baker's next big push planned for when she turns back up. Quote
