The match is with El Hijo Del Vikingo (The Son of the Viking) so that is Vikingo...although in a shock to everyone he's a fat old Mexican guy and not an actual viking.

That fucking rug slip is without question the most fun I've had with anything Del Rio related, must have rewound it 10 times too???. Yeah, the guy getting attacked by Alberto there is King Vikingo, the dad of El Hijo del Vikingo. It's a work - King Vikingo interfered in the Alberto/Vikingo title match on Saturday night.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, El Hijo del Vikingo won that match, winning the Mega Championship that WWE were already advertising him as defending in a match. Like just about every other Alberto match, it featured a ton of run-ins and weapon spots and assorted smoke and mirrors to disguise from the fact that he's completely washed up, but there was a mixed reaction to the finish - even as a heel, Alberto is still massively over in Mexico and probably the biggest star in AAA, while Vikingo has been massively downplayed since his injury and was never booked particularly strongly even when he was World Champion. A lot of the social media response in Mexico has been heavily anti-Vikingo as a result, and that's only been exacerbated by the very clear messaging that the future of AAA booking is that WWE get to decide who they want to win and why.

He’s got the Money In The Bank match later on.

Edit: Just realised Vaquer is on the card too.

Gable Doesn’t count.

Another Edit: pretty sure this was supposed to be an NXT VS AAA card(bar the main event), injuries to other wrestlers have meant Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix have been drafted in.

Yeah a fun 2 1/2 hour show, save for Konnan being a bit dull and boring on commentary and it’s got us an extra match on the MITB card

Konnan stealing Worst Commentator of the Year from underneath Pat McAfee’s nose. Man sounded half asleep.

Vikingo vs. Chad Gable felt like a slow motion version of Vikingo vs. Kenny Omega. Still good, and he still hit all the flashy moves, but the whole thing was at 0.75x speed. What gives? Is he injured? Has he aged loads in the last few years? Surely he didn’t have whopper agents in the back telling him he needs to slow everything down? Konnan told me they weren’t going to Americanize it!
