Paid Members tiger_rick Posted October 7, 2025 Paid Members Posted October 7, 2025 Been listening to the New Gen Pod again. I think @Supremo mentioned somewhere that he was too, dunno if he kept it up? I'm about a year behind where they are on the Benno & Hamflett In Your House pod series which is confusing the shit out of me. There are a couple of things that are interesting in retrospect. One is the mention of any Indy or BritWres shows the lads have seen - well, mainly Stuart - and the names that come up who are now key players in wresting. Kevin Owens, Sami, Will Ospreay, the Bucks, etc. Utterly obscure names of 11 years ago who have been the backbone of wrestling worldwide for at least the last 6. I like this little preservation of history. Be like listening to a 7 year old radio show about the AWA in 1990. The other thing is the mentions of "current" pro-wrestling, circa 2014/15. It's fucking dreadful. We knew it was dreadful. We sometimes remember it's dreadful but reliving it in little bits through New Gen is a stark reminder. One that reflects on the modern day, Stuart went to a pretty disappointing Raw and commented that you want value for money when you've paid 30 quid to attend. Halcyon days. Bring back Vince. Quote

I gave it another go because I tried Benno's and Hamplett just put me right off and I don't know anything about him beyond that podcast. Decided to just listen to their WCW extra episodes they'd drop in. Forgot how much I really enjoyed their off-piste chat, at one point they end up in a deep conversation about the Family Ness as they were trying to find anyway of not discussing Uncensored '96. Still a great podcast, hope Stuart is doing good. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted October 24, 2025 Members Posted October 24, 2025 I've said before how often it's not my cup of tea anymore, but really enjoyed these two videos from Wrestle Me, the Rumble one especially. Quote
davertfnewman Posted October 24, 2025 Posted October 24, 2025 One of my great annoyances with Marc is his inability to pronounce the name Kama correctly (like 'comma', not rhyming with hammer). Quote
Chili Posted October 24, 2025 Posted October 24, 2025 The Bret one is worth it for the chat after about the A.I. breaking news twitter account that speaks in 'dog' language. Absolutely unhinged find. Quote
The Gaffer Posted October 24, 2025 Posted October 24, 2025 The Home Alone IRS edit had me howling in the latest Wrestle Me too. Quote
Cannibal Man Posted October 24, 2025 Posted October 24, 2025 I love Wrestle Me but they're on course for a full eight weeks of shows covering Wrestlemania 41 at the minute and it's making me want to twat my own skull in with a hammer Quote

Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted November 10, 2025 Paid Members Posted November 10, 2025 Been going through New Gen again recently. Currently up to Episode 24 which doesn’t cover a show, it’s one of the Q&A ones. Stuck the last bit of it on for the bus ride home from work and got to the end of the episode just as I was about two stops from home. Right when Paul Scrivens started singing ‘My Humps’ by Fergie. I almost completely lost it on the bus. Shoulders were going, the lot. I must’ve looked absolutely mental. Quote

I had a suggestion read out once, and I can't for the life of me remember what it was or what episode! If you hear them mention a Bacon suggestion let me know! Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted November 10, 2025 Posted November 10, 2025 (edited) Pigeon & @SuperBacon Still go back to New Gen again & again. No matter how many times I hear it I still enjoy it, I must’ve been through it all at least 10 times now. Edited November 10, 2025 by WyattSheepMask Quote
Chili Posted November 10, 2025 Posted November 10, 2025 (edited) It's the absolute best fans doing a period podcast for me. OSW is very fun but you need the visual, AE Podcast has it's moments, the Benno IYH one is let down because Hampletts opinions grate me (though he's apparently a nice chap), but New Gen is such a relaxing listen. A great mix. I did a bit of a listen of them again and then tailed off but I'll probably go back to hearing random episodes again. Like @SuperBaconI think I had one or two things read out. One was definitely band names/songs for wrestlers or something and I got "The National Front Disco Inferno" on the pod. A brilliant listen, especially 96-97, some fantastic episodes in that bit. Special mention to the Thunder in Paradise review too, there's a few sections in that creased me. That top moments podcast near the end of the run is great for not being self indulgent, with some incredibly interesting segments included. I always loved their epitaphs for long standing guys when it was their last appearance. Bulldog, Ahmed etc. I hope Stuart is well. Edited November 10, 2025 by Chili Quote
The Gaffer Posted November 11, 2025 Posted November 11, 2025 I hope Richard Query is still as passionate about the American Males. Quote

Still a great show, the effort put into the newsletter alone is worth the cost. Quote
