wordsfromlee Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 I find it mad that in 2001, this was one of the biggest songs in rock/metal/alternative music. Not just this song, but this live version! You couldn’t turn on Kerrang or MTV2 without seeing it. They kind of just came out of no where too. Of all the classic songs and records that came out that year, somehow this dirge managed to hang amongst them. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted August 9, 2023 Paid Members Posted August 9, 2023 It got big because it was endorsed by Fred Durst, which tells you all you need to know about the state of rock music at the time. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted August 9, 2023 Members Posted August 9, 2023 I know its low hanging fruit, but I do love how Bowling For Soup really nailed the parody of Staind in the Girl All The Bad Guys Want video. Staind were just awful. Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted August 9, 2023 Paid Members Posted August 9, 2023 Let me see those lighters y'all. The amount of shite music videos I watched in my teens. What an incredible waste of time and brain space. I could have learnt French or something. Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted August 9, 2023 Paid Members Posted August 9, 2023 I remember I quite liked Staind at the time. I also liked self harm and and special brew, so, ya'know. Quote
Paid Members waters44 Posted August 9, 2023 Paid Members Posted August 9, 2023 Man that video takes me back 20 years, you’re absolutely right it was everywhere back then! I didn’t mind Staind when I was younger. Their Break the Cycle album was ok, obviously not as good as Alien Ant Farm Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted September 20, 2023 Moderators Posted September 20, 2023 And now I'm off to listen to the whole album for the first time in years. Thanks for the reminder that it exists! Quote

I bought Sum 41 "All Killer No Filler" about the same time. And Bizkit's Chocolate Starfish, Wheatus' first album... none were any good. JJ72 on the other hand was a solid investment. Quote
