Aew barely waits 13 weeks to bring the rejects in and puts them on tv at expense of the people more of us wanted to watch before. We wanted fresh and different and now we onIy see that kinda talent on Dark Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted June 9, 2022 Paid Members Posted June 9, 2022 I can't decide what would be worse. The Hangman vs. Okada match morphing into a throwaway tag match at Forbidden Door, with Adam Cole and Jay White vs. Okada and Hangman, or another mini tournament to decide who fights for the IWGP belt, with Hangman vs. Cole, Jay White vs. Okada, and then the winners facing each other a the PPV. A live shot inside Tony Khan's head; Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted June 9, 2022 Paid Members Posted June 9, 2022 The show was constantly taking one step forward and then jumping two steps back. Casino Battle Royal was full of jobbers, and the ones in there that could have given us an exciting prospect against Mox like Kingston, Fenix, even Darby or Yuta all got dumped for Kyle O'Reilly. I said this about the last Joker we had but now all the surprises are used up it needs to go. Andrade is shite and being the joker didn't help him at all. Jeff Hardy being put into a ladder match on a throwaway Dynamite is up there with the dumbest decisions Tony Khan has made recently. He's going to die on TV, and not in that exciting way he was going to but not really during his prime, he will actually die on TV like this. Will Ospreay looks like an Aardman Animation but you can't deny he's a big name, so why they've decided to bring him in against Trent Baretta and FTR in a tag fuckaround I don't know. I gave a genuine "oh wow!" to Hangman challenging Okada and then that shitehawk Adam Cole ruined it. Walking around with his worthless tournament belt that's nearly the same size as him. Awful. Wardlow's promo was fine. It made sense and it'll be good to have him trample through the TNT Title scene. I'm fine with the new belt. It seems like we have loads but it's WWF 2000 territory now. World Title, Secondary Title, Tertiary Title, Women's, and Tag. We have a 2nd Women's instead of a Hardcore belt. They just need to get rid of the ROH, NJPW and stupid tournament belts now because they're nothing to do with anything and clog the show up. That includes the FTW belt which is the best of a bad bunch. I've said it recently but the janky booking, reckless decision making and that unshakeable feeling Tony Khan wants this to be NXT is really losing a lot of good faith with the company for me. I really miss those first couple of years where it was exciting matches, new faces and good storylines. I find I'm skipping more and more each week and I've gave up on Rampage and Dark altogether. Keith Houchen Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Will Ospreay? Fucking hell, such a progressive minded company. Get in your mums motor and fuck all the way off. Quote

Ironic Indie Lad Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Does anyone like Ospreay except Dave Meltzer? He is such a shite panto act Quote

Fortunately Dominion is on Sunday and White v. Okada will be decided then. Should be a clear shot at Hangman v. Okada. Although with Cole on comms and now your suggestion. I'm worried it will end up being a tag match Quote

Loki Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Wait, so if you're ranked Top5 in the Men's Rankings, you can challenge for either belt? The two belts don't have separate rankings? And the same is true for the Womens' belts? Quote

I can't be arsed looking, but is it still the same pseudo-kayfabe nonsense with people that have won 3 matches on Dynamite ranked above people who've won 5 matches on Dark, and teams being declared undefeated because of a somewhat liberal interptetation of the Freebird rule? There are a lot of comments kissing Tonys feet about how great he is, one even saying 'Thank You Papa Tony'. Fucking Papa Tony. EDIT: Edited June 9, 2022 by Nick James Quote
Merzbow Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Just watched the battle royale, think I might just skip the rest of the show. What a way one match can suck out the interest in an entire company, it just shows who they have faith in and it's that reject cunt? Quote
Guest Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Pretty agreed with the consensus that this was not a good show. It was still easier to get through than WWE shows because of the good matches, but there's a lot that lowered my excitement rather than raising it. - The Battle Royale suffered majorly from having very few interesting people in it. Andrade as the joker was the cherry on top of the crap sundae. There was noone, other than Eddie Kingston and Derby Allin, who looked like they might have been competition for Moxley, and even then you can't really imagine Derby Allin against Tanahashi (and Kingston only works because he can talk anyone into anything). Kyle O'Reilly wasn't even in the top 5 of the people I wanted to win, and it was really deflating when it was him. - On that note, if you're just going to piss about with the rankings so Mox is the number one contender, and Mox doesn't have to do the battle royale but gets to fight someone who's already wrestled that week, why not just give it to him at the start? Why do all this silly buggers? - The All-Atlantic belt seems bizarre to me. Especially considering Cole is walking around with that Owen belt. Are you only allowed to compete for it if you're not American? That'll last. I think it was this point that I first noticed "the visionary tony khan", which is a terrible, terrible nickname. He's going to be a regular character by the end of the year, isn't he? - I don't dislike Adam Cole as much as many on here. I enjoy his matches, I think he's a great obnoxious frat boy promo. That being said, if you asked me the last thing I wanted him to do in AEW right now, after "feud with Kyle O'Reilly", it would be "another match with Hangman". I don't care if it's a triple threat with Okada, I don't want them in the ring together again for a while. Why is he still carrying that belt around? Is he going to defend it? - "Welcome to Wardlow's World" is not a good catchphrase and needs to go in the bin immediately. Also "I don't want to fight for the interim belt, just the real belt" makes him look top level stupid. You get the shot at the real belt by winning the interim belt, dummy. I am glad that they acknowledged that they need to course correct on the TNT belt though, and I hope we get to see Wardlow kill Sammy soon, and I am so up for Wardlow vs 20 jobbers. Cracking idea. - The Bucks/Hardys/Jurassic Express promo will be used as evidence in the negligent homicide case against Tony Khan when Jeff Hardy dies in the next 6 months. Completely ridiculous, and really not a match that I have any interest in seeing, mostly because of the inclusion of the Hardy's I realise Forbidden Door is on the way, but I'm way more interested in the Blood and Guts match in a few weeks, which didn't even come up. The hot new thing with new people coming in all the time was always going to wear off, and it's not a big deal that it has. It's still an exciting product with a lot going for it, but this was a weak show building to a weak show. Quote
