Weird that they decided "why not, may as well?" for all of the big names booked to appear on this show for the first time coincidentally this week if they're not rattled, then.

It's what they do, it's overkill, and maybe anyone would do the same in their position, but it makes AEW look more of a threat to WWE than they probably otherwise would when WWE are on the safer ground of running on their regular night and have to pull out all the stops in order to not lose face. If it's a game of "interpromotional war", I'd say booking Undertaker on the developmental show is more gotten to than cracking jokes about Shawn Michaels being bald on Twitter, personally.

Aren't all of WWE's TV deals up for negotiation right now? They'd look like complete divs if they put a regular NXT on, lost in the ratings to an AEW show that's being promoted like a PPV, and had TV execs going "Well we'll have you on but for a lot less than you hoped you were getting".

I think this is much less about the competition and much more about what's coming up in negoiations.

Spot on. But if I was a TV Exec and knew they threw all these stars from the other 2 shows on an episode to complete with a rival, being used to make this show more important, I’d question why I want to pay a load of money for NXT when I’d rather spend the money on Raw to get those guys on a weekly basis. Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think it’s going to get someone paying top dollar for it which I guess backs up your point)

A decent number and a good win. They won't need any more than that.

Not too sure given what was on that show. I suppose what we will see is if people stick around with NXT. Its been good lately but yesterday was weirdly not the best showcase of that

You don't just pull a bunch of viewers out of thin air. It was never going to be a monumental shift. There's a ceiling. Especially when you're competing for a similar part of the audience.

As for people sticking around? I doubt any of this was done with any long term planning. It was a weird week. Everything will probably settle back to normal next week.

Not sure they would've expected more. Not much anyway. There's only a finite amount of fans and some will have watched Dynamite. A decent number and a good win. They won't need any more than that.

But close enough that Tony can probably spin something from it too.

Last time Smackdown was moved to Fox Sports in the same time slot, they were over a million viewers down. So considering this was 24 hours earlier I think dropping 200k or so is pretty decent.

Who cares about the overall numbers. It's all about the key demo baby.

Realistically whatever the numbers were the fans of both sides were going to claim it as a victory, so everyone go about your business.

NXT won by 0.04. Considering who they booked to get that, that’s a bad look. Especially as it was in their usual time slot.
