I honestly think the vast majority don't understand this 'wwe will be sold' thing, if it's sold the same people will be running it, the property of wwe will be in a major companies name but the day to day will still be Titan Towers and The Mad Hatter, I mean Vince's, Control.

I think he is, for lack of better term, biding his time, when anything happens to Vince he will be the guy running it all.

Is there a source for this, or just your opinion? If Vince would only sell the company on condition that he was still running it, I don’t see the point of selling.

It's what happens in a lot of businesses. A bigger company swallows up another and keep the same people running it as they have the knowledge of running it. If they don't keep them on, then they get stuck with long term non-compete clauses so that the person selling up doesn't simply create a competitor.

A corporate entity might want the money and content the WWE can bring. They don't have someone on hand with the specialist knowledge of actually running the company. That time will come though. Look at how WCW had turnover with the various people Turner put in charge over the years.

As for why Vince would do it? Have your cake and eat it. Get the payday and still run it with little oversight.

It entirely depends on why they're selling and who is buying. In my opinion, for Vince to sell, it would be because he's ready to let go. Otherwise, I think he'd just keep it. He'd probably stay on in some consultancy capacity for a while but essentially, I do not see Vince working for someone else. There'd be a good chance that he'd negotiate positions for his family but that's where it depends who is buying and what they want out of it. Could be a changeover period until they establish their own people or they could keep Steph, HHH, Shane, Khan, Dunn, etc long term.

I still don't see Vince selling and I think his kids are the heir apparent.

Things have changed enormously over the decades since Turner and WCW though. Back then, we'd have said nobody could do Star Wars without George Lucas, and miss the upturn in quality since he was taken off it. And a major competitor has shown that this 'specialist knowledge' isn't as special as they may think.

He isn't going anywhere, Even if wwe is sold he will still have shares that come with a guaranteed position.

No one on here knows anything. It's all speculation. You don't know any better than anyone else. It's not about 'understanding' is it? You're just assuming as much as the next person, unless you're Vince and I would strongly assume that you're not.

there still seems to be received wisdom that Vince McMahon is the only person who can "do" wrestling - there's all sorts of stories about the value of WWE stock going down every time they suggest on-screen that he won't be in charge any more, like when they did the Donald Trump buying RAW angle. I think they've done a lot over the years to platform Stephanie as Triple H as the heirs apparent specifically to try and counteract that effect when they take over.

It seems to be taken as read that WWE are preparing to sell up - I find it difficult to rationalise that with what we know about Vince McMahon, but also, there's so much about what they've been doing over the last couple of years that really points in that direction. They're becoming, even by WWE standards, more insular, have seemingly scrapped any plans for international expansion (which was the big project of the last decade), and seem happy to increasingly operate as a content provider.

A lot's been made of the Disney/Marvel comparisons, and people saying how WWE do X and Marvel never would, and how WWE are nothing like Marvel because they don't have the investment in their storytelling, and that's completely misinterpreting what "we're like Marvel" means at a corporate level, and who the intended audience for those statements is. My interpretation of WWE being "like Marvel" just means that they are producing X hours of content, and within that content is a series of brand names - WWE, Wrestlemania, Roman Reigns, John Cena - that can be leveraged for advertising revenue. If Nick Khan crunches the numbers and finds that the most effective way to monetise WWE is purely by heavily merchandising Austin 3:16, Hulkamania and the nWo at the expense of anything current, we'd see a massive uptick in archive material on the Network and vintage shirts getting pumped out. It's all about branding and content, wrestling and storytelling barely get a look in.

If he did sell and ended up staying on I'd love for them to do a fly on the wall documentary of it, watching him trying to explain to normal people why a group of writers needed letting go because they sneezed in a meeting or being moaned at for calling his new boss up at 3 in the morning because he thought everyone thinks sleeping is a sign of weakness.

What's being built?

New office, apparently. I guess Titan Towers is for the chop?

Did I clock Johnny Ace and Bruce walking ahead of him in that video? Tough times for Trips.

Yeah, I didn't want to be the conspiracy theorist or anything but I would not be surprised if Vince's "court" is like that - the closer you're walking behind the boss, the more in favour you are.
