It seems to be that due to so much of their squad being under 21 opened up some gaps and that wary of a covid outbreak in the team (especially with the goalkeepers in close contact) if anything does happen he'll take off the suit and tie and have a full kit on underneath.

When it came time to stand up to scrutiny he crumbled like dry Weetabix in the hands of Andre the Giant. Who was the last great British goalie? You could make a case for David Seaman but even then I’d argue he wasn’t a great goalie. Very good but not great. That being said keepers of the quality of Seaman, Flowers and Martyn would walk in to the current England team and stay there for 10 years.

I would say top 3-5 in the world at a position and Seaman probably was at a time. He is certainly significantly better than anyone who has came after him to my mind.

But he did that save against Sheffield United that convinced everyone he was still really good when he actually should have been retired by then.

Hart won two league titles, two league cups and an FA Cup with Man City. I never saw the keeper as a problem there. If anything, Pep made things worse when he replaced Hart with Claudio Bravo during his first season in charge.
Mr_Danger Posted October 25, 2020 Posted October 25, 2020 Since he lost his place he has moved to Torino before becoming a second choice goalie for Burnley, West Ham and Spurs. City have gone on to win leagues and cups. I think it’s fair to say Hart wasn’t a major contributor to their success although he was very good for a few seasons. It’s his mentality, usually confidence in abundance is a great attribute in a Keeper but it seems to work against him.

Granted, City have won titles and trophies since (not when Bravo was the first choice keeper I might add - they won nothing that season). Hart hasn’t done much since either but being so unceremoniously ditched by Pep probably didn’t do Hart’s confidence and mentality much good. Don’t get me wrong, Pep has been great for City overall but his treatment of certain players has left me baffled at times. I blame Pep’s treatment of Leroy Sane for him becoming unsettled and wanting to leave. I still don’t think Pep trusts Phil Foden either (one of the only players who looked like he cared when he came on in the second half yesterday). City aren’t exactly setting the Premier League alight right now either by the way.
