Paid Members I Bent My Wookie Posted April 7 Paid Members Posted April 7 In the early hours of the morning I did wonder if the Liv and Roxanne bump was as bad as I thought, and yeah that thud was horrible. No surprise they may both have a concussion, that would surely lead Liv out of Mania right? Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted April 7 Paid Members Posted April 7 (edited) Fucking hell we're talking about whether CM Punk is a real Punk or not again? Burn down the UKFF. Edited April 7 by gmoney Quote

I thought the promo was really well delivered and helped build up the match with Roman. Does it hold up to scrutiny if you sit and think about it for a minute? No, but it's professional wrestling and he was trying to sell a match. And in the moment, I bought what Punk was selling. Quote

For me, it was worth bringing up for the content of all this baffling 4D chess everyone seems to be playing at. Had he not gone off on that mad bit at the end about McAfee, TKO, that Ari fella and bringing up Vince McMahon, it wouldn't have mattered as much in context. Besides that @SaitoRyois right that it was a great promo until the denouement. Edited April 7 by Chili Quote

To be honest, it's exactly this. Is it meant to hold up under scrutiny or is it meant to pop a few big cheers and make for some nice soundbites? It's not cinema (even if they may claim it is) or some Breaking Bad-esque show that needs great writing and character development. It's a bloke mouthing off at another bloke trying to sell a fight. At this point I think he did alright. Quote

At this point I think he did alright. I'm more than happy with WWE promos being like that. Obviously you need someone as good as Punk to deliver it for it to properly work, but it's better than some clunk, pre-written spiel. And now Roman gets to come out next week and talk about how Punk had to run away from WWE because he was threatened by his rising star or whatever. Again, it's not something that would necessarily hold up to scrutiny, but if Roman said it confidently enough, I might just believe him! Quote

But they didn't, the theatre of the promo was around Pat McAfee and Ari Emanuel. That's what's got everyone going. Now, if they are moving that way with a WWE vs TKO thing and it's a fight they're starting to sell, fine. I won't be into it, but fine. But right now it feels like they've disappeared up their own arses trying to both appeal to non-fans and not piss off the current fans, and they're doing everything but just try and sell the fights. NeverYield Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Just catching up now General consensus is everyone everywhere else seems to be vigorously wanking themselves off over the "pipebomb" last night, and on here the opinions are a lot more true and grounded. I agree with the opinions here. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I mean they're all opinions. If people enjoyed it then fair enough. If they don't then they don't. Same with anything really. Quote

Here it is anyway Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted April 7 Paid Members Posted April 7 If I never read or hear the word ‘pipebomb’ again it’ll be too soon. I miss the days when wrestlers were just cutting promos about kicking the other guy’s leg outta their leg and stuff. Quote

It has been claimed that the first time NWA wrestling was broadcast on ITV in 1989 in the Central TV region at 3am, replacing tame WWF Challenge, the first match shown was this epic squash. Quote
