They will probably think they’re being clever because it worked for Cody and have Brock win so Oba can chase him for a win back.

Brock clearly loves Oba. He loves selling for him. So if he loses, its a WWE call. As FUM said, they probably think the chase is what people want. When in reality, it'll kill any interest.

Brock's obviously a made man at this point and the speculation is he's done as a wrestler sooner rather than later, with his last match most likely being at SummerSlam in Minneapolis. There's nothing to gain from Brock beating Oba at 'Mania, though there were some reports that Lesnar and Heyman felt he shouldn't do a job until losing (most likely to Gunther) at SummerSlam. I hope that's not the case, but you never know.

Whatever the result, it's the match I'm most looking forward to this weekend and feel like it's the right play to kick off the Sunday show with it, even if it could realistically have been the main event given the strong buildup.

Brock might be a dodgy piss demon, but he really knows how to elevate people and make them look like monsters when he can be arsed and this feud has done wonders for Oba (so far).

Either Oba absolutely smashed him and it's brilliant and leads to a story going into Brock doubting himself for maybe the first time and building to that retirement idea people are mooting.

Or it's like Ryback/Mark Henry at Mania 29 where Ryback lost for no good reason and on Raw became the top challenger and turned heel.

Only way I'd accept Lesnar winning, is if its by dodgy means, which leads to Oba challenging him to a retirement match at Summerslam(or a something vs career match), and Oba destroying him and beating him clean 1-2-3*.
I don't think Gunter needs the rub of retiring Brock, where as Oba could dine out on it for years(and lead to a Gunter/Obi "who is the real Career Killer" fued).

*Ideally though, I'd want Oba to beat Brock strongly and decisively, leading to Brock being desperate to get his win back. Maybe have Brock win by shenanigans at a Saturday Night Main Event or minor PPV, then the rubber match be a career ending match at 'Slam. Sorry about the fantasy booking though, we all know all fantasy booking is shit...

Gunther asking for a favor is absolutely to retire Brock. They can always retcon it if the oba match goes well and he's the one to retire Brock. But that's the avenue I think they're going. Gunther vs. Brock at SummerSlam

I think it's by far the most likely scenario. Plus, Gunther has been saying for ages now that he wants to work with Brock and sees him as his 'final boss'. It should be a fucking great match if/when it happens.

Bad go-home show with a truly dreadful closing promo.

The way in which everything’s fell off a cliff, it was always going to be a laugh to see what mad direction they went in next. Would Punk and Roman bicker on about Pat McAfee? Will they get into an argument over who can offer the bigger discount on ticket prices? Or will Roman counter Punk slagging off his dead dad by slagging off Punk’s dead dog? Maybe he can boot a stuffed dog into the crowd like Snitsky with the doll?

No-one could have guessed what a weird direction they chose. More bizarre than British Bulldog at Royal Rumble 1997. Like a conscious attempt to kill momentum and excitement, rather than build it. Maybe it’s a meta way to attack the big bad TKO, by tanking the show.

Six days out from the main event of Wrestlemania, Punk. What have you got to say to your most heated rival?

Would anyone really be shocked if Brock Lesnar wins clean?

You can absolutely imagine Michael Cole saying Lesnar may have won, but he’d never seen anyone manhandle him like that, followed by a Gunther confrontation on RAW in which he says Femi couldn’t finish the job, but he can - and he’s coming for Lesnar’s career (before Lesnar beats him at Summerslam and retires anyway)

I hope I’m wrong, but I’m fairly sure they’ll give that deviant the last laugh just as he’s had in real life.

Not that there is any logic nowadays anyway, and I always overthink it....but if that happens in theory they have saddled Oba as somone who is worse than Brock and then if Gunther beats Brock...he's worse than Gunther...who lost to both Sammi and Jey Uso...so his credibility could be shot.

I think you can have Oba win clean, and then still have something similar where Gunther says it's obvious that Brock is done and he needs putting out of his misery

Far be it from me to say anything nice about modern day WWE but I saw a clip of Oba Femi's promo and fucking hell if they don't strap him up and have him main eventing by the Autumn they're complete idiots.

Who in their right mind would rather have weird dumb cringe shoot filled monologues from old cunts and useless midcarders-in-any-other-era when you can have a big crazy fucker screaming he is the ruler of the world, the bringer of war and the mountain you can't conquer?! It's pure proper pro wrestling goodness.

I’m not saying I think it’s a good idea…I could see them doing that, before having the two losers feud as Gunther, frustrated at not being able to end Lesnar, feuds with the person who came ‘closest to doing just that’. It’s dumb, but that’s WWE. They should strap the rocket to Oba and have him demolish Brock, perhaps even putting the title on Femi as soon as Summerslam (with Femi winning his first World title on the same show Brock won his, as Lesnar retires) but I have zero faith in them to take the sensible approach.

This really made me laugh harder than it should given its origin. Bravo! 👏🏻

And I can’t help but read it like a newspaper caption you’d get with a photo to accompany a story…

Quite a train of thought. Shades of Shawn’s interview at Survivors 92 where he suggested thus ;

Shawn : “Who is the man that beat Bret Hart at SummerSlam for the Intercontinental title?”

Sean : “The British Bulldog.”

Shawn : “And who is the man that beat the British Bulldog - QUITE EASILY, I might add - to become the new WWF Intercontinental Champion?”

Sean : “You did, everyone knows…”

Shawn : “That’s right, me. Now, for all you mathematical geniuses out there… one plus one equals two. Two belts.”

Didnt really work out on the night for HBK, and I don’t think looking inferior to Brock somehow makes Oba worse than Jey Uso on account of Gunther losing to the latter. Sometimes the numbers DO lie.
