Quite a train of thought. Shades of Shawn’s interview at Survivors 92 where he suggested thus ;

Shawn : “Who is the man that beat Bret Hart at SummerSlam for the Intercontinental title?”

Sean : “The British Bulldog.”

Shawn : “And who is the man that beat the British Bulldog - QUITE EASILY, I might add - to become the new WWF Intercontinental Champion?”

Sean : “You did, everyone knows…”

Shawn : “That’s right, me. Now, for all you mathematical geniuses out there… one plus one equals two. Two belts.”

Didnt really work out on the night for HBK, and I don’t think looking inferior to Brock somehow makes Oba worse than Jey Uso on account of Gunther losing to the latter. Sometimes the numbers DO lie.

Yeah, that post was very much tongue in cheek 😘

Not that there is any logic nowadays anyway, and I always overthink it....but if that happens in theory they have saddled Oba as somone who is worse than Brock and then if Gunther beats Brock...he's worse than Gunther...who lost to both Sammi and Jey Uso...so his credibility could be shot.

I think you can have Oba win clean, and then still have something similar where Gunther says it's obvious that Brock is done and he needs putting out of his misery

Reminds me of how Turkey are the unofficial world football chmapions having beaten Kosovo for the title last month.

Watching Oba display more all-round potential at 27 than possibly anyone they've ever had, you do think; what a lucky bag of bastards this company is.

Far be it from me to say anything nice about modern day WWE but I saw a clip of Oba Femi's promo and fucking hell if they don't strap him up and have him main eventing by the Autumn they're complete idiots.

Money promo from Oba Femi. Genuinely didn't think he had one of those in him.

Had to go and watch this promo and it's a hard agree. Absolutely incredible words and aura from a guy who looks the absolute business.

Sadly had to watch that puddle of custard talk first but Oba's stuff was so good it was worth it.

So, tonight is the raw after mania, usually one I look forward to, hopefully some decent surprises tonight

There are no big surprises left. The sooner we kick the surprise habit, the better.

What's the best surprise they've got? Ethan Page? Ricky Saints?

There's no surprises left, and if there were they'd announce them ahead of time to pop a rating or sell a ticket.

The biggest surprise they had up their sleeve was a spoiler, and they're out of the sleeve... even if this spoiler is going back into the sleeve.

Yeah there's fuck all. Who could return that anyone would give a toss about? Punk has been back for years, Brock is a sex pest and retired. AEW is running and has most people anyone would care about under contract. It's not 2012 anymore. The "RAW after mania" is dead sadly.

The biggest surprise they had up their sleeve was Paige, and she's out of the sleeve.

I imagine they’d consider Joe Hendry just about big enough. Outside of that, maybe a Cena appearance, maybe The Rock or perhaps they’d consider more celebrity involvement the way to go. They still have options, many of them weak options, but they’ll always exist.

If I were them, I’d ignore all of that and try to chart out a direction that’ll get fans excited - have Oba Femi set his sights on the champion or something like that. Heck, if you want to make people forget about the bad feeling, maybe you go as far as to have Oba win the title on Raw, doing something completely unexpected and buzz-worthy.

EDIT: Removed champ’s name, in case anyone hasn’t seen ‘Mania

In terms of what they need to do now, in my opinion its build the shit out of the newer guys, as mentioned above Oba, Trick etc.

Most of the big wrestling stars today are retired or near it, and if not, definitely slowing down, and appearing less on weekly TV.

New stars need to be made, and while the talent pool isnt exactly huge, and I dont have massive hopes for their booking, imo if you cant build Oba Femi, then theres no hope.

@RedTwoster you may want to spoiler that above post mate.

I’ve removed the champ’s name, just in case someone does skip through the minefield of reading the Raw thread without watching ‘Mania!

(I can’t get spoiler tags working for some reason…)

Well, you could potentially want to watch last week's Raw before watching Mania, so that'd make sense, or you could, like me, accidentally click the thread like a sleepy idiot. Oh well.
