I'm talking about opinions that I have seen in articles that I have read. They were from such people as Congressman, NRA spokespeople and a Breitbart columnist, one of which (maybe more,it didn't say) has admitted to not having seen it and never will. What I was saying is that there is plenty of reasonable and well articulated criticism from people who have actually seen the film. So it's not all reactionary morality police. Taken out of context, with no awareness, that poster obviously looks ridiculous. Whoever thought that was OK is a dolt. If you have links to articles by people who have seen the film and take umbrage with it, please share them as I'd be interested to read them. I can also understand the POV from some people about the film, but that doesn't mean I agree with it. I really don't see any controversy in it. I thought it was a really great film. Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted September 16, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted September 16, 2020 The Final Girls - I absolutely poxy well loved this movie. I had no idea it existed and it was just fantastic, really. Comparisons to Cabin in the Woods are fair, but it played out like a more funner Cabin in the Woods by way of Jumanji. Absolutely tremendous stuff and can't wait to watch it again. The characters are so likeable and easy to invest in, and Malin Akerman is just such an absolute dote in this.Hounds of Love - The missus certainly loves these bleak ones and this was bleak. Well acted and all, but my goodness, I must really like herself because I really don't like these sort of films and don't know why I do it to myself. Kind of like when I paid money for us to see Bon fucking Iver. A Good Woman is Hard to Find - Third time watching it. Still astoundingly cool and one of my fave flicks of the 2010s. I would literally cast Sarah Bolger in everything, ever. Goodfellas - Fifth time watching it. It's grand. I still don't see the fuss about it, and think Casino is infinitely better, but I obviously have a mental block or some repressed rebellion against that movie because again, herself and my niece and nephew all teed off on me about how wrong I am in saying "It's alright, like..." Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted September 16, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted September 16, 2020 The Final Girls is really good but it's also got a surprising emotional streak through it that gives it that extra something. Lovely stuff. I saw Hounds of Love at the cinema. It was horrible shit. Nobody else was in and I'm not surprised.

Lovely stuff. Â I actually genuinely teared up at the end when Bette Davis eyes kicked in. It was just so tragically lovely. What made it a little bit more on top for us, was the fact our niece and nephew live with us because they lost their mother - and their dad is sub fucking pondscum -Â so my niece was upset at the end, and with the whole Akerman/Farmiga arc running through it in general, but she said she loved it, and it actually helped her in a weird way. Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted September 16, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted September 16, 2020 It really was such an unexpected subplot, who could have expected that in a film like this? Yet it also really felt like it belonged. A real shame we never got a sequel but it's a little gem.

I adore the passive aggressive / shithousing way McMurphy introduces everyone as Doctor except "Mr Harding", absolute brilliance.  I was annoyed when I saw there is some Nurse Ratched "Origin" story coming up, not everything needs a fucking origin story.  Then I saw Sarah Paulson is in it so I might give it a watched based on her alone. It's a bit of an own goal from Netflix and sort of proves the point of the film. That said I don't agree with the film making logic of the sexualisation of children to make it's point. In summary, everyone is a bit of a cunt.

Yeah, I loved that little touch. And when he sneaks in to the cabin with the woman, the bloke steering looks down and everybody has vanished. The Nurse Ratched thing is what inspired us to watch it. Id have to agree, don't know why she needs an origin story. A spin-off sequel would have made more sense with the aftermath of everything that happens but would have been equally unnecessary. Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted September 16, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted September 16, 2020 Rage (Prime) Gary Daniels, a primary school teacher, is turned into an unwitting killing machine by a group of far right mercenaries. Which sounds great in itself but doesn't come close to explaining just how great this whole thing. Stupid, unquestionably, but also genuinely funny and knowingly so and, most importantly, featuring some absolutely great action scenes and stunts. Bloody great. The Devil All the Time (Netflix) A miserable, shit and just thoroughly pointless and endless load of old bollocks. Robert Pattinson must hate himself to keep getting cast in stuff he's way too good for, but I'm sure whatever he's got lined up next will be bett.... oh. Just absolutely despised this. Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted September 19, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted September 19, 2020 Hard Boiled (YouTube) Still the greatest. And never forget the brilliant cast this thing has, which helps it immensely. Legitimately changed my life when I first saw it back in 1993 on Sky Movies, I genuinely had no idea films were allowed to be like this. A gateway film to foreign language cinema and beyond. It's incredible. Rumble in the Bronx (DailyMotion) Jackie's non-Hong Kong films deserve more respect. There's some amazing stuff in this and I love how, because he fucked his leg up, they decided to just have a massive hovercraft chase for the ending instead of his usual brawl. Cliffhanger (nefarious means) Technique from London's Burning and Henry Lee Lucas, together at last. Can't believe how bad Renny Harlin turned out after turning out action crackers like this for a few years in the 90s. WE NEED INSULIN. Renny Harlin sadly was the victim of his Geena Davies double bill (Cutthroat Island and Long Kiss Goodnight) bombing at the box office and his preference for 'big action'. After CI bombed and LKG failed to live up to expectation, Hollywood wouldn't offer Harlin the big budget scripts that get the best out of him, thus the man was fucked really.
