AnotherCrapUsername
Anyone use stadia? I'm considering getting the premier edition for the spare room.
Awards Moderator Onyx2 Posted January 23, 2021 Awards Moderator Share Posted January 23, 2021 If Google doesn't drop Stadia like a stone in the next 18 months I'll be shocked.
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted January 23, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted January 23, 2021 I've not heard much good stuff said about stadia. You have to pay for thee service, but also for the games, and even then you only have access to the games you buy as long as the publisher and Google decide it should be on there.
Mr_Danger
Apparently Cyberpunk runs great on Stadia, you wouldn’t know though because they’re an absolute shambles at selling that service. I can’t believe they haven’t turned it in to streaming service like Gamepass by now, nobody should invest in games for a service that will be dead in a year. Merzbow
People with far better connections than mine have said it's bad, lots of lag and issues but I've also seen it running great for others. Make sure you use the free trial. But yeah, having to buy the games when you don't actually own them at all is shit.
The Gaffer
I just can't see the reason to take the risk on one, personally. If you want a tidy, easy to use gaming box for your spare room you may as well splash out on one of Sony or Microsoft's newer offerings, stock pending. You've got an absolute cast iron guarantee, there, that they'll be supported like crazy for most of the decade with both respective companies falling over themselves to gain your favour.

Apparently Microsoft are sending a mass email to everyone, and then they'll have 45 days until. The price increase happens.
Paid Members PunkStep Posted January 23, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted January 23, 2021 As well as that, they're removing the need to subscribe to Gold in order to play free games online.
The King Of Swing
Was a really tone deaf move on MS's part. May have got away with it if we weren't bang in the middle of a pandemic and a good chunk of people can't even get hold of the new system. And you just fucking know that Sony would have eventually followed suit. Hell going on past form they'd probably double the price AND reduce the freebies. Removing gold for F2P games is a nice surprise though and will no doubt go over well with some people.
Merzbow
It'll go over well with parents now not having to buy live for their kids to play Fortnite

Retro Red
Fortnite thankfully doesn’t have loot boxes, in-game cosmetic stores aren’t much better but at least it doesn’t promote gambling in kids.  Seph - already covered on the last page chief. Mr_Danger
Nor does it need a server subscription to play, at least on PlayStation. If you hide your credit card details from the kids it’s the best value game that’s ever existed.
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted January 25, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted January 25, 2021 The other concern would be a deluge of "lite" versions of FIFA, NBA 2K, Madden, PES etc which is ostensibly a free to play version of Ultimate Team or whatever it's called.
