Good because it's shite, that, 4 & 2 are the real missteps in the series.

It's an interesting posit

I've played GTA, GTA London, GTA 2, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas. I have GTA V untouched. GTA was a lot of fun especially 'Gouranga' and crashing trains but San Andreas I can just drive around for hours listening to the radio stations or faffing about on it, without actually doing anything else. It's part of what made the game for me anyway. What makes it shite?

The story was a big disappointment for me, it had more potential that what they did. The map felt big for the sake of it, with what felt like long stretches of very little that made traveling a chore to me. It also introduced all the eating and gym crap that hung around and evolved into getting constant calls about bowling.

Shite is a bit hard, granted, but if I judge it on a curve against the main GTA run it doesn't stack up as well in my opinion. I'm aware I'm in the minority here though.

I liked 2 and it had one of my favourite mechanics in the way you played the various gangs off against each other. I understand why with the series needing to be more story based games that it had to become that hasn't resurfaced but it actually makes it one of my favourite games and almost made the list! I am fully aware this may be nostalgia based and trying to return to it now may find a very painful realisation.

Same. I could spend hours just wandering about, going for a drive, go on a date, get something to eat, head to the casino  etc in San Andreas, and the radio stations were great. I never really did that inthe other games.Well, it wasn't usually outside the constraints of a mission.

The old Top down GTAs are still fun, although the controls feel weird, and without a map a lot of the early game can take time getting used to where everything is.

I’m never going to look up what the actual chant was, but forever in my mind I hear “One for the ghetto, one for the grotto” when I think of GTA 1.

The soundtrack to GTA 1 was great too. I had it on PC back in the day, and the disk would also play in a CD player, so I taped it to cassette. The main theme was banging and I know almost every word.

Turned up in GTA3 as well. I liked Fubk FM and that country song where the chorus goes "menfolk find their women scary, because they are so big and hairy".

The main theme is fucking ace, have it on a few of my Spotify playlists. GTA 1, 3, VC, SA & 5 had incredible soundtracks. 2 had its moments, 4 was ok.

Radio Soulwax on GTA5 is awesome. The pop station is as well, but the people at Rockstar really know how to throw a country playlist together.
