Paid Members BomberPat Posted April 26 Paid Members Report Share Posted April 26 It's the Savile thing again - the rumours have been around forever, but the victims were either vulnerable enough or else had no hope of a public platform, or came from scenes in which Westwood had outsized influence, so could always be painted as groupies or people just after fame, and the establishment did fuck all as a result. One of the most galling parts of the Savile documentary was journalists saying, "oh yes, we'd all heard the rumours", yet seemingly none of them doing more than the bare minimum to investigate them. I know that's a gross simplification, but that's basically what's gone on here - the rumours kept circulating, but the BBC and the police did nothing either out of a desire to protect their investment, out of indifference bordering on corruption or, most depressingly likely, because his victims were "only" black teenagers, so who gives a shit? It does go to show that the allegations may ruin lives......for about 3 months before news moves on and the alleged return to their lavish lifestyles. The replies and hate she received for this thread is everything that is wrong with the world and the male species specifically.
Loki
The only one I’m slightly dubious about is Paul Haggis - as he’s been a vocal opponent of Scientology and claims that these accusations are part of their smear campaign. Regardless he’s been awaiting trial on the charges for about 3 years so there will be some sort of resolution one way or another. Overall though… it’s a depressing list.  And unless the legal profession come up with a way of properly trying historic accusations it will remain that way.  She didn’t even include Trump, whose dozens of assault and rape allegations didn’t keep him from the highest office in the land. While Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys has a few accusations, some of them look like they stem from friends of his brother with whom the Carter family have been embroiled in an extremely ugly and sometimes public feud for years. Aaron said Nick raped a 91 year old for instance as well. Aaron stands by the BSB former manager who was a nonce. Aaron Carters story is fucking tragic, his face just screams that he’s seen things.
Paid Members chokeout Posted May 23 Paid Members Report Share Posted May 23 Al Franken being named in that list is an odd one as he's one of the few people that accusations had a massive impact on. Being forced to resign when there were other people in US politics accused of far worse who were just left to get on with their lives was a very odd time. Not justifying his actions at all but it was a weird little hypocritical bubble that summed up American politics at the time.
Keith Houchen
Taken from the BBCÂ Actor Kevin Spacey has been charged with sexual assault against three men, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed. Five charges were brought against the 62-year-old after the Met Police reviewed evidence following complaints dating between 2005 and 2013. Three complaints relate to sexual abuse which is alleged to have taken place in London, and one in Gloucestershire. He is also charged with an additional serious sexual offence in London. The first two charges relate to alleged sexual assaults on a man, now in his 40s, in London in March 2005, while a second alleged victim, a man now in his 30s, is claimed to have been assaulted in London in August 2008. The serious sexual offence charge - causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent - also relates to the second alleged victim. The third complainant relates to an alleged assault on a man who is now in his 30s in Gloucestershire in April 2013. Rosemary Ainslie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said that following the Met's review of evidence the CPS had "authorised criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, for four counts of sexual assault against three men". She added: "The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Spacey are active and that he has the right to a fair trial." The CPS said it could not confirm or deny whether or not Mr Spacey, an American, will need to be extradited to the UK. Mr Spacey, a two-time Oscar winner, is well known for starring in films such as Seven, LA Confidential, American Beauty and Baby Driver, as well as the Netflix series House of Cards. The actor was also the artistic director of the Old Vic between 2004 and 2015.
