The two things I hear about it that always put me off is that its about 130 hours long (even longer in (Royale) and that there's a bit where you have to look up a Japanese school girls skirt. Anything turn based is an instant no as well for some reason.Ā

Did you ever give Xcom a go? If you don't like that I think it's safe to say you're never going to like any turn based game...

Would you be up for playing co op? I have yet to complete it, i managed to have an amazing session with @BanocrefĀ and we got to the final boss on stage 12, but sadly we both came a cropper on it

Also, i am back into playing GTA online at the moment, so much new stuff after many years away from it but i am finding it enjoyable, so if anyone else wants to play it on xbox live, then please let me knowĀ

The casino is fun, i marked out a bit when i realized inside track betting is backĀ

I'd love to Ralphy, but I got it on my PS4. Same with GTA V. I had a good game on there the other night though. Thanks to Rockstar gifting the free 500,000 credits I was able to buy a nightclub, and found myself on a server where the other players weren't bothering with me while I did some of the missions to set that and the arcade up. It's nice when that happens.Ā

Anyone played The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners on VR yet?

I have it on my watch list for when it's on sale. Looking forward to this.Ā

I've played nothing but Streets of Rage 4 all week. Nearly all characters unlocked now. The crispness of hits, little strategic combos keep coming out, which is the secret of a superficial button-masher. Replicating 1 & 2's hitboxes and details like jump arcs are perfect.Ā

I think it's as good as 2 and craps on 3's floppy hit detection.Ā

Had a quick look at Xcom 2 when it was on PS Plus but not enough to make a fair assessment. I used to love Cannon Fodder and Herzog Zweii as well. You'd think my ageing reactions would appreciate a more considered approach to action.

It's certainly challenging. I like when it takes longer to throw a big character. There are a lot of nice touches.Ā

Streets Of Rage 3 was ruined by people who decided it needed to be more difficult in order to sell, Bare Knuckle 3 is the superior version there, which is why they always give the option to play that when it gets a rerelease on a compilation etc. It's just a shame they don't translate the story. Still, there are fan translated emulator ROMS out there, and if you emulate it you don't get the tempo of the music slipping all over the place.Ā

The retro soundtrack is a nice touch, I have gripes about some of the music feels like it's playing in the wrong place, but it's nitpicking, and I love that it plays the SOR2 stage 5 music on the boat level, followed the stage 6 music when you're on the level after that. It's nice that they put the Master System music in some places as well.Ā

Do you play with the legacy controls or the regular ones? I've got a fight commander pad with buttons laid out like the Megadrive 6 button pad, and it feels so good to play on that.Ā

The little touches such as enenis collapsing when you try and set them up in the old punch loop are nice, but it also feels like sometimes you'll get trapped into a combo from the enemies and it won't let you get your defensive special in. It's probably because of how much I've played 2 that I prefer it, but it's definitely a brilliant game, and unless there's some spectacular stuff to come out in the next few months is a dead cert to be on a lot of game of the year lists.Ā

I've not really tried. Can't say I have a problem with the currentĀ controls.

So there's a bunch of hidden stuff to help with this. If you vertical jump but don't attackĀ you're completely invulnerable for some frames. I haven't quite worked it out yet but it's saved my bacon a few times.

The air specials are nice. Is it worth sticking story mode on easy and getting it done with so I can just crack on with arcade mode on and start racking up the points that way? I'm enjoying the challenge of it on normal difficulty.Ā

I did it first on Easy (in 2p mode) but you do you. I've replayed it six or seven times with different characters on different difficulties so beating it didn't diminish my replayability.Ā

I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays with the retro characters.

Yeah it's about Ā£40 at the moment which I think is too much for a VRĀ  game.

Once you get the SOR3 characters, SOR3 Axel makes itĀ an absolute breeze - being able to run forwards into the Grand Upper, then roll out of the way of any oncoming attack, is superb.

Is it me or are the SOR1 characters absolute tanks compared to the regular ones? I did a run on arcade mode with Blaze on normal and her hits all seemed super powerful.Ā

Blaze is usually considered to be the best character in the original SOR. Her speed and jumpkick make up for her lack of strength. Adam is far too slow to really be viable as almost everyone can outrun him, and Axel's jumping attack is pretty awful. Once we've unlocked them all I can see my lady and I playing through as SOR1 Blaze and SOR2 Axel respectively.

Tonight is Train Sim World night though, as it's been a whileĀ and I've had a pisser of an afternoon, so some train drivingĀ and aĀ podcast is required. Thanks again @johnnyboy. It's really helped me through this isolation.

Adam has two things in his favour, he has invincibility in the wind up to his rear attack, and his jumping kick has the most enormous hitbox out the front of it. It's like driving an SUV. Speed is overrated.

This guy is going through every character on Mania Arcade mode.

It's a pain in the arse when everybody's darting around. I like how the SOR4Ā version of Adam plays. That little step he does when you double tap the direction is nice for getting in on people, or getting around the back of them.
