Paid Members FLips Posted July 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 4, 2025 There’s a slew of shows I associate with the Sunday Night Shit run. Heartbeat, Ballykissangel, London’s Burning, Last of The Summer Wine. Whole lot of them give me shivers. Quote

I thought they just kept replacing them, sugababes style. It's still going now. Les Dennis is Compo, Alun Armstrong is Cleggy and Nick Lyndhurst is Foggy. Nora Batty is on OnlyFans selling used tights. Quote

I am sure we've discussed this before but the big one for me was hearing the South Bank Show theme from the front room. That filled me with pure dread as it's now 10.45 and you have to be up in 7 hours for school and each minute is a minute closer to that. Also my Dad was asleep in front of it, not watching, as he was very much not a "cultured" man. Londons Burning at least had a banging theme. Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted July 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 4, 2025 London's Burning theme song meant bedtime on a Sunday, certainly until I was a teenager. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted July 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 4, 2025 That screenshot has reminded me of Sam Beckinsale, which had me wondering where she went - there was a point where she was on TV quite regularly. So, today I learned, and was horrified to find out, that she'd been absent for a while because of a long period of surviving domestic abuse. She's since set up a women's DA support charity. A strong lady, but man, that's rough. Quote
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted July 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 4, 2025 It was essential Sunday night viewing for me towards the end. The televisual equivalent of wallpaper it's just on. Occasionally there'd be a decent joke. Roy Clarke also did Open All Hours and Still Open All Hours, and the last series of Still Open All Hours felt like it was moving more to an ensemble cast type affair like Last Of The Summer Wine was at the end. Cleggy and Truly were still in it at the end, but for insurance reasons were only allowed to film indoors I think Peter Sallis had appeared in every episode. Yes, I know far too much about it, and if it was on a streaming service would probably end up watching it all several times through. Quote
Cousin Jim Bob Posted July 4, 2025 Posted July 4, 2025 (edited) I'm trying to think of Sunday evening/night regular shows that were any good. Scrapheap Challenge whilst eating your dinner was fun and Sundays nights usually ended with Hale and Pace before being sent to bed. Edited July 4, 2025 by Cousin Jim Bob Quote
Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted July 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 4, 2025 (edited) Monarch of the Glen was one I remember on Sunday evenings. I’d need to put my tv on to sleep and as there was usually fuck all on, I’d stick that on on BBC1 to drift off. Hamish Macbeth as well. I don’t know why I was drawn to these Scottish shows. Members SuperBacon Posted July 4, 2025 Members Posted July 4, 2025 IIRC at some point The X-Files was on Sunday evenings as well, so that bucked the trend. Points of View, Songs of Praises. Sunday telly is right wing. Quote
Chico Torres Posted July 4, 2025 Posted July 4, 2025 Poirot, New Statesman, Spitting Image….great way to end the weekend Quote
davertfnewman Posted July 4, 2025 Posted July 4, 2025 I'm in the generally keener view of Sunday evenings because my dad would pop up the shops and get us some White Lightning or Diamond White to go with a Chinese curry while we watched A Touch of Frost or Band of Gold or maybe Morse if that was on. Crikey I'd imagine even Antiques Roadshow was exciting if you were lit up on one of those two drinks. Quote

Scrapheap Challenge whilst Heavy Dvon YouTube has put together a version of Scrapheap Challenge on his channel. It's not terrible. Quote

Paid Members gmoney Posted July 14, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 14, 2025 Pumas, cougars and mountain lions all refer to the same type of big cat, they're not different types. Panthers aren't a specific type of cat at all, they are just what people refer to big cats with black coats as. Had my mind blown a bit today. Quote
