TIL that a man called Billy Gunn played cricket and football for England in the late 19th century. Apparently, his single-arm throw ins were so long, the FA changed the rules to what they are now. Great granddaddy ass > Rory Delap.

Best pure athlete in football

Because of The Gaffer posting his tattoo and mentioning Babylon Zoo, I went and googled them and Jas Mann to see what he's been up to since his self-implosion.

Seems he set up a production company, which produced a film called A Fantastic Fear of Everything - it stars Simon Pegg, Amara Karan (whom I posted in the previous Hot People thread because she's the gorgeous love interest in one of my comfor-viewing films Jadoo/King of Curry), and it was directed by Crispian Mills!

Mike Elizondo - the producer of Glow On by Turnstile - started his career as a protege of Dr. Dre. Producing ‘In Da Club’ by 50 Cent, ‘Ass Like That’ and ‘Just Lose It’ by Eminem as well as co-writing a bunch of tracks on The Marshall Mathers LP, ‘Let Me Blow Ya Mind’ by Eve & Gwen Stefani and Family Affair by Mary J. Blige.

That's a lot of miserable Sunday evenings.

Where The Heart Is is my Sunday night doom show from back in the day. Still get dread just thinking about the bloody theme tune.

First of the Summer Wine only ran for 2 seasons.

As a kid, I didn't realise it was a prequel - I thought it was the original programme. It also led to me wondering if there was a "second" and a "third" of the Summer Wine, and how many there would be.

Interesting bit of trivia: because the original third man, Blamire, was played by a Tory cunt (who also donned brownface to play Rangi Ram in It Ain't 'Alf Hot, Mum), The Last of the Summer Wine almost got cancelled:

Quote

Owen was a staunch socialist and supporter of the Labour Party. Peter Sallis described Owen as being "slightly to the left of Lenin" and said that Owen's left-wing views contrasted so much with the right-wing opinions of Michael Bates that Last of the Summer Wine was almost not made because of their arguments.

Good old Compo.

Last of the Summer Wine was filmed near where I was born and bought up. Nora Batty's Cafe was always a tourist hot spot. It's called Sid's Cafe now but is literally exactly the same

Nothing said I'm going back to school in the morning more than being at my Nans, having a bath and getting PJs on ready for my Mam to pick me up, having Boiled eggs and soldiers for tea - standard after a Sunday lunch - and having to sit through Summer Wine and Heartbeat. I remember when they got a TV/VHS combo in the bedroom, which meant I could watch wrestling tapes or Grandad's Carry On collection rather than that shit.

Adored being at my grandparents' house more than anything in the world but the fact they watched the news instead of Neighbours still annoys me now.
