Now osprey has wrestled his last match in njpw its of to London where I'll be watching on Sunday. He better not  get injured in the meantime I payed £50 just to watch osprey.

So Jungle Boy Jack Perry is now in House of Torture and is saying that he asked for his release from AEW but it was turned down, I'm pretty sure that's just in character but yeah he's back wrestling again.

Top move by New Japan. Definitely enough for me to start watching regularly again. Also quite funny that Mox isn’t even in AEW at the moment, enjoying his Easter Holidays, and yet the moment more Punk bullshit kicked off he still ended up with a World Title around his waist. Matt Riddle acting the tit, going full Austin Aries, no-selling his loss, and high-fiving fans as he danced out of the arena was interesting. Has he managed to fuck up his New Japan deal already? I mean, it was always cursed to begin with, but that's record time! Man's a Grade-A whopper. Glad this means he likely won't be at Forbidden Door.

I have decided to watch all the Takeshita matches in the G1. One of my long term ongoing frustrations with AEW is their under-utilisation of Takeshita, so I'm watching his G1 run spoiler-free and rooting for him to go all the way. Also he's in the same block as Jeff Cobb and that match sounds highly appealing to me.

Takeshita vs Yota Tsuji

Spicy one to start the tournament! Takeshita at 29 years old and Tsuji at 30. Both young, full of charisma and wrestle a very modern style. Tsuji one of the most promising next-in-line guys for a New Japan in desperate need of them. He has a great physical charisma about him, the smile is brilliant and he is quite the crazy high spot machine for a guy his size. Takeshita is also one of the brightest stars of the Japanese new generation. a bit further along than Tsuji and also with the height and power advantage in this match. This was a cracking match. Takeshita dominating for a lot of it, but Tsuji trying to show he can do everything Takeshita can and refusing to be steamrolled . One nasty moment where Takeshita fell of the turnbuckles when they were going for a Spanish fly, but other than that this was a great scrap. Hard-hitting, heated,  some wonderful sequences of counters and near falls at the end. It was a decent length at 17 mins, but still felt like a bit of a teaser for many more showdowns between these two who, if Takeshita does return to Japan full time after AEW, will be long term generational rivals. 

Seen a lot of people saying this was the best match of G1 Night 1 and that doesn't surprise me.

Interesting how they label Takeshita's name in romanji unlike others, it's likely for the English/AEW viewers but it gives him even more of an "outsider" feel.
