Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted March 7, 2013 Moderators Posted March 7, 2013 Lovejoy had a brown rabbit called Wog, but it got dropped halfway through the first series. Was it ok?
Keith Houchen Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Needless to say, the dog in the Peter Jackson remake will be called something different. Oh for fuck's sake. It'll be called, and played by, Andy Serkis.

mikey Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Needless to say, the dog in the Peter Jackson remake will be called something different. Digger apparently. Like what happened with John Barnes.
Richie Freebird Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Please tell me there's a Mick the morgue, a Johnny the jobcentre and a Becky the brothel as well There was a bloke called Tommy the chip round here (he owned a chip shop). We also have Tony the Punk and Fran the Punk, though being punks isn't really their occupations.
Paid Members Monkee Posted March 7, 2013 Paid Members Posted March 7, 2013 (edited) Please tell me there's a Mick the morgue, a Johnny the jobcentre and a Becky the brothel as well Probably. Remembered a couple more: the woman who delivered the milk was called "Lynne the milk" too and a bloke who used to have a mobile fish & chip van was called "Viv the fish". In "The Dam Busters", the dog was called Nigger. A few people, the usual idiots, went all PC gone mad when the looney left BBC edited it out when showing it on TV. The CEO of a company I used to work for was drunk at a corporate function once and we were playing the "What's your porn star name?" He got really excited and after the usual "Fluffy Smith" and "Fido Jenkins" he piped up with "Nigger Gasworks"... EDIT: My mistake, this wasn't the one where you take your mother's maiden name but the name of your street instead. He used to live on Gasworks Lane or something. My examples therefore don't work unless you like on Smith Road and Jenkins Drive of course. Also, on the subject of certain words being censored on forums. I used to be on one waaaay back in the day that was US-based and censored "snigger" and changed it to "snicker" instead. Edited March 7, 2013 by Monkee

A Welsh guy at my work said that when he was at school (he's 40 odd now), so many of the children had the surname Jones, that it was really hard to keep track of who was who. Resultantly, the kids surnames were informally changed by the teachers to the occupation of their fathers. Could this be some sort of hangover from that

Moderators neil Posted March 7, 2013 Moderators Posted March 7, 2013 Any time my Grandad would eat a tin of prunes he'd call them "niggers knackers". Which still makes me laugh to this day.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted March 7, 2013 Paid Members Posted March 7, 2013 my dad once said a few very unsavoury things about Rory Underwood when he scored against Wales. I was about 9 at the time and sat there in shock.
BiffingtonClyro Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 My mother once told me that my Grandmother used to describe a certain hue of brown as being "nigger brown".
Paid Members Carbomb Posted March 7, 2013 Paid Members Posted March 7, 2013 My mother once told me that my Grandmother used to describe a certain hue of brown as being "nigger brown". Yep. Was apparently in official use, too. My mum said her secondary school uniform was dubbed that colour - was on the label or whatever it is came with it.

Sure it wasn't the name tag of the lad wearing it?
