ThumpSquids Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 I figured the Gargano contract stuff was timed to lead into an EC3 feud once the Ciampa stuff was at an end. If so, fine booking! If not, as you said BP, a little odd.

Gargano announcing that he's signed the contract should have been the first we heard of the match - announcing "there'll be a Street Fight at Takeover if they both sign the contract" is a little odd. Saying that, perhaps they'll drag it out for a bit with Ciampa refusing to sign until the last minute or something, but I still think it was oddly paced.
Paid Members Supremo Posted June 1, 2018 Paid Members Posted June 1, 2018 "Ricochet’s ankles must be made out of Nokia 3210s," was my favourite Twitter remark during this week's show. Another good show. Takeover looks like it's going to be brilliant. I'm excited about every match.
Ambulance Chaser Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 I think the reason I'm enjoying Ricochet/Dream so much is that it feels real, in the Stone Cold/Rock sense. When people talk about the Austin/Rock feud retrospectively you always hear how whilst it was obviously a work the rivalry was very real, it was 2 guys who wanted to prove they were the best, and one up the other. To maybe a lesser degree I get that feeling with Dream/Ricochet, that they are both young hungry guys who want to prove they are ready to be the next star, trying to outdo each other physically and athletically. Competition brings out the best in people and it's brilliant stuff.
Paid Members Supremo Posted June 1, 2018 Paid Members Posted June 1, 2018 Ricochet/Dream feels like Aleister Black/Dream. It's really simple, brilliant storytelling that's likely going to result in a great match. You almost wouldn't want to suggest it because Vince would end up dressing him up like Mighty Mouse, but there's something there with Ricochet acting like a modern day superhero. Every time he does one of those cool superhero landings you can sense there's magic to be had with him.
Ambulance Chaser Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 I was listening to some podcast or another that reviews NXT and they were saying any Dream fans better pray Vince retires or dies before he's called up, and it's bang on. He'll be fucking dancing and gyrating with New Day within a month on the main show, any aspect of what makes him one of the most interesting characters I've seen in years will be gone. Dead.

We had two separate announcements that there would be a rematch at Takeover, and then Gargano comes out with a contract to announce to the live audience that he'd signed it - would it not have been more impactful to air that part first? The WCW 2000 special. Announce Nitro main event. Have someone come out and demand the match. Have authority figure announce the match you already announced. Lose £80m. Die.

I'm surprised they haven't really done anything to give him any, with Roode he got the new guy pop and immediately established himself as a top heel in his first promo. EC3 hasn't really done that yet and all the crowd are chanting his one percent, NX3 shtick. I know Roode had the Glorious singalong but he always felt like a baddie.
Loki Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 EC3 isn't a heel yet. In fact they might keep him as a face - or move him straight up to Smackdown as he's more than ready. Funny how indy stars appear once put under the bright lights. I expected to hate Riccochet but he's really impressed. War Raiders on the other hand are shite.
Guest Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 A face who wanted to be gifted a championship on his first night and goes on about his privilege and wealth? Well, we are in the Trump era I guess
BrodyGraham Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 War Raiders have built their reputation for having cracking matches across the globe. Dismissing them after 2 squash matches and a 3 minute match with fucking Heavy Machinery seems to be jumping the gun a bit.
TildeGuy~! Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 I hope Dijak gets more time on the show moving forward, loved his work in PWG, enjoyed the main event too, however the whole Nikki Cross angle dragged on for far too long though.
