In other news, Bobby Roode might well be the best all-round performer the WWE has right now, and who thought that would be possible before he arrived? .

Ā

Probably quite a few to be fair, so many have been clamouring for him to be in WWE for years, it has always seemed the perfect fit for him. I am really glad that he's been every bit as good as I expected him to be in this environment, he has a genuine star aura about him that most lack. He could/should be a major player on the main roster when he gets the call.

Ā

Ā

Cheers for pointing this out. I haven't watched much, if anything, of the TV show in months but I checked this match out and it was indeed great. Regardless of the crowd reaction to the entrances, they got into this and their reaction didn't ever feel "wrong". Both guys are excellent and mesh really well. The video packages before the ad break again were superbly done. I learnt more about thise two guys in 2 minutes than I have about Apollo Crews or Baron Corbin in 6 months.

Ā

Apollo Crews, completely agree with. I know nothing about him and have no reason whatsoever to care about him.

Ā

Baron Corbin on the other hand- I don't know about that Rick. I think they've done a really good job with him and have done more than most when it comes to building up a bit of background about him. Admittedly some of that might have been from NXT, Breaking Ground and Talking Smack rather than the main regular show, but I think they have fleshed out his character quite a bit.

Ā

Ā

I like when the camera shows Tom Phillips talking on Smackdown because you can see Mauro screaming internally.

Ā

I know we talk about the token 3rd men sat at each announce desk being shite, and not adding much- which is true. However, at least Otunga actually says something during Smackdown (as invaluable as his contribution may be). Tom Phillips will literally(/redknapp) say nothing throughout the entire broadcast, apart from in between the matches when the camera cuts to the announce team. Is that all he does, a bit of talking in between? I guess he's there to learn the craft first hand if he is eventually going to be a PBP guy on the main shows, but he should at least say something!

I think that Cole will be transitioning to an off screen role in the next 5 or so years and that's why they have Phillips practising spouting their commercialised jargon on Smackdown. I don't think it's supposed to be a slight on Ranallo

I was quite excited to see a Patrick Clark vignette as the entrance music he was using was absolutely brilliant. Of course he fucking comes out to a different one.

Still quite like the gimmick though

The bloke that stands up immediately after Patrick Clark's match this week to give the double thumbs down is like every one of Pitcos' Dem Wan stereotypes combined into a single entity.

Of all the fans to critisize, you're picking out one of the few who cared enough about that match to stand up and boo the heel?

Ā

Instead of booing and doing the thumbs down gesture, what should he have done?

I took an irrational dislike to him as soon as I spotted him at the start of the show and wanted to make it known. The thumbs down was the most obvious thing he did that would allow me to identify him to others, so I mentioned that as a distinguishing thing. There was nothing intrinsically wrong with the thumbs down in itself (though I'm confident he wasn't doing it to 'boo the heel') but "that fat bloke in the front row at Full Sail with the neckbeard" doesn't really help to narrow things down!

Watched this episode last night and the best thing is, he stands up and half starts applauding, realises what heā€™s doing and that heā€™s opposite the hard cam, and you can see his face go, ā€œNo. Iā€™m not clapping thatā€ and goes full-on smark.
