Not sure why it happens but yeah this definitely wasn't their best. But again - it's AEW. The big shows deliver and I doubt this is going to be any different. Quote

Paid Members BomberPat Posted August 27 Paid Members Posted August 27 I'm glad the consensus is that this was a fairly perfunctory show given it's supposed to be the go-home Dynamite for the biggest show of the year. It's hilarious how completely Debra-ed the Death Riders are in the main event story - not a mention in the video package, or in Ospreay's promo, the fact that Will knocked about with them for months has no bearing whatsoever on the main event of All In. And Ospreay's promo at the start of the show highlighted what a waste of time that whole angle is - he's such a natural babyface promo, who makes the crowd care about his journey and everything he's done to get to where he is, that having him hang around with heels instead of just doing this from the moment it was clear he was headlining All In is booking malpractice. I know there's always odd analytic and TV ratings reasons, but I thought the formatting of this show was all over the place. Having the babyface challenger do his rah-rah promo at the top of the show and then never appear again outside of a video package, then closing the show with a match between two guys who don't even have announced matches for All In, are likely to end up in different matches at All In (the Gauntlet for Jack Perry, Trios Title match for Swerve), and having them work a match that didn't serve either of those All In matches or have any consequences for the PPV at all felt like an extremely weird move. There's other stuff on this show that felt like a step back from last week, and not where the levels of tension and expectation should be for this close to the PPV - Mercedes and Willow's segment was a step down from last week, Cope working a fairly house show paced tag with the Young Bucks and getting to the slightest bit of tension between the teams feels like where that story should have been at two weeks or so ago, and given they've all been working against the Don Callis Family for a while now, I'm disappointed nobody has questioned the Young Bucks on how they feel about this heel version of Kenny Omega. Kyle vs. Nigel was okay, but not a patch on Kyle vs. Hechicero. I was disappointed in Claudio vs. Mox, because they did nothing with the fact that it was a Death Riders derby - they didn't wrestle like guys who know each other like their back of their hand at all, nor was it played out like one of them has frustrations with the other that this gives them an opportunity to work out. Even if that's the case, they surely could have done something better; even if it had to be a backstage thing to make sure it was a bit more controlled. Both women have done some of their best ever promo work these past few weeks, and it's such a shame that this was the final angle before the show given how brilliant they've both been. Quote

Liked the opening and the final video package, though it wasn't their best work. Really liked the E&C/Young Bucks stuff. Loved the little Andrade angle. The woman with the Kelly Kapowski red face was hilarious. Mercedes & Willow was a little bit rinse and repeat but makes more sense given what's been posted above. I see a complaint sometimes, elsewhere but occasionally on here, about all the 6-man tags, and I just vehemently disagree with anyone who thinks they're not one of, if not the most effective ways to fill TV time and further feuds. I only have one real complaint about anything going in to All In and that's how completely obvious the C3 has felt since they drew Moxley vs. White in round 2. Any intrigue went at that moment. It's been a great little tournament from a match perspective but they've not done a great job of keeping the outcome interesting. Eddie withdrawing was the final nail in the coffin for any intrigue. They suffer from super high expectations, I'm sure. This was a solid 7.5/10 show for me. Quote

Paid Members Supremo Posted August 27 Paid Members Posted August 27 That the New Day got that over for that long, generating such goodwill, all during the WWE’s darkest period, is more than enough for me to want to see them in AEW, with all the freedoms that come with it. They’re talented lads who’ve been in the same system forever. I can’t wait to see them in a new environment. Their heel turn on Big E alone should be enough for people to want to see them spread their wings a bit creatively. That felt seismic in the moment. Should have led to a huge run. Instead, they were immediately demoted to doing generic heel promos bashing the local sports team during the advert breaks on Raw. Quote

If I wasn’t going to All In already, I don’t think that episode would have swayed me. It did start well with the Ospreay promo though, I don’t know where that Ospreay has been this whole time, felt like the first week I’ve really wanted him to win on Sunday. Worried that Willow being injured again is either leading to a Mercedes win, or worse, Willow winning and then vacating. Again. Depressing how many people you could see wandering off during the women’s trios match because they still think “women’s match = toilet break”. Very strong hints to maybe Maya vs Persephone at Wembley, but very odd if they’re leaving it until the night before to announce if so. Speaking of, to anyone who was at Glasgow last night - anything of note happen on Collision? Anything I need to know for Sunday, on the assumption I’m not spending Sunday morning watching wrestling too? Agree with Pat on how strange it was to have Perry (no match at All In) vs Swerve (no match at All In despite main eventing Wembley last time) as the main event, in a match that did zero to build anything at All In. I don't want them to do the "I'm a super-serious pro-wrestler now" schtick but knocking about with Swerve, getting some decent music, bringing something to their matches and not relying on the same act will be interesting to see. They'll either smash it or end up like the Hurt Business or Mal Black. Quote

Highlight was a fun trios with Speedball/Komander/Jericho Vs DCF and Takeshita vs Mortos. The main event 12 man could have been good too but we left after the entrances to catch the last train. A fun night overall, if a bit disappointing we didn't get appearances from Kenny, Okada and a few others. Also no ROH matches and only one dark match, Grado vs Nathan Cruz. Quote
