Well as you allude to, you're not only selling tickets to a venue, your trying to get people to buy the PPV. I don't think trying to get people excited about your big show on one of the last opportunities to do so is an outdated idea. That's the reason they have a buy in, to wring as many last minute buys as possible.

I enjoyed Collision, but that might be in part because I’m so excited for All In later. I think I’d have liked it anyway, though.

I still really like The Dogs. I know most people here find Gabe Kidd ridiculous but I do enjoy his nonsense. Clark Connors strikes me as a potential breakout star.

The Bang Bang Gang are probably the coolest stable in wrestling. Jay White was really boring as a heel, and he’s a rare example of someone who is better in every way as a babyface. He pisses charisma, and The Gunns are great too. I’d love to see White get a main event push in 2027, though. 

Skye Blue seems to get a lot of viral attention for her bloodbath matches, and fair play to her for her dedication, but in a standard match she’s no better than mediocre. She might improve, but if she doesn’t, even a hint of promo ability could give her value. Harley feels slightly underutilised these days. 

I’m very intrigued by Steven Borden. While this all likely leads to a Sting appearance at All In, I’m very interested in seeing his son wrestle now. A match against Kevin Knight could be very fun.

And speaking of Knight, he’s overcome a rough start to his singles career to become a true rising star. His mic work has gone from being poor, to being solid to actually being quite strong, and he always had the ring work nailed. He feels like he’s above the Don Callis Family, and I hope that is intentional; a move designed to end this stable at last.

A random thought, I’d like to see them do more with Rocky Romero, he’s really fun. He’d make a good manager in his own right, I reckon. 

All In can’t come soon enough, I’m stupidly excited for this.

They're in the right place now. WWE haven't cared about the tag division in a very very long time. There was hardly anything left for them to do there so I'm glad they're getting a whole new set of people to work with.

No one over at WWE will give a shit though. If they did they wouldn't have let them go in the first place.

Interesting episode. Didn't feel like it managed to ride the momentum or the energy of All In, but set up enough things moving forward to give people a hook to keep watching.

I thought Ospreay's opening promo was really good. We're used to it now, but I'd never have guessed that he'd become a reliable TV promo guy - it's especially mad because English people doing wrestling promos normally sound like kids play acting at being Americans, but because he never really does the cadence and the stop-start delivery of everyone else's promos, he generally actually sounds like a human being. Only problem was that it turned into one of my least favourite wrestling tropes - a promo gets interrupted to set up a match later on that night; how did a live wrestling show not have a main event booked until ten minutes into the show? What would the main event have been if The Demand and The Dogs hadn't interrupted Will's promo? That it was a main event with three guys who, in AEW terms, are nobodies, didn't help either - though Francesco Akira chopping both of GOA constantly got a great reaction, at least.

I don't like Moxley as Will's first challenger, but at least it's not MJF. It's more the combination of having a singles champion challenging for a different belt, and the extremely weird circuitous route they've taken to Will facing Mox, where it could have easily been a story of Ospreay getting revenge and catharsis for defeating the guy who broke his neck, but now it's all bogged down with really weird baggage. Interesting that the way Moxley sold the announcement of the title match was like he didn't realise it was coming, though.

Good to see Josh Alexander back, and they're really doing a good job of making Steve Borden look like one to watch without overexposing him. He still comes across as a little bland and unconfident when it comes to selling and engaging the crowd, but limiting the way he's used to distract from that is working for him, and hopefully he picks that stuff up as he goes along, because he has a fantastic look and is obviously really athletic; that dropkick ruled.

Weird to have the Motor City Machine Guns and The New Level involved in the tag match aftermath at All In, then just not be part of the angle or the match announcement on this show at all. The New Level have Trios Titles, so I don't need to see them in a tag title match, and I guess the justification for the Machine Guns is that they haven't even had a match yet, but then why have them part of that angle at all then? Speaking of New Level, they looked fantastic in their match. I have no problem with ex-WWE guys coming to AEW if they're coming in with a chip on their shoulder and wanting to show that they can still keep up and still have lots to offer.

Yeah, I'm definitely on the side of good but not great episode. Just enough to keep some momentum going but after an all-timer show it felt a little lacklustre in places.

Anything Ospreay related probably gets a bit of grace from me at the moment after the weekend so the Mox thing doesn't bother me nearly as much as it could've done a few weeks back.

New Level just bringing it all every week is something I'm absolutely up for.

But really above all else I'm just glad to have Thekla back.

It's one of my biggest annoyances in modern wrestling.

Not having a plan for your show is a terrible way to run your business. Hell, just have a fake main event booked and play the "card subject to change" card.

This is the thing - it's not even just that it's a lazy cliché bit of booking, or that it doesn't make sense in kayfabe, it's that, like almost every petty grievance I have about lazy booking, generally doing the work to make it make sense would actually make it better. It could be additive, and spin out in to two or three additional bits of storytelling.

Okay, so Will Ospreay issues the challenge for the main event. Rather than that just automatically meaning that's the main event of the show, there could have been a sub-story running through the first half of the show about whether or not Tony Khan was going to make the match official. You don't need to have booked a fake main event, because I don't want AEW to get into the business of bait and switches on what they're advertising, but when Excalibur is running down the card for Collision, just have him say that one of the matches on that show had been scheduled to main event Dynamite, but was bumped to Collision when Ospreay requested this match.

From there, you can have someone in the "original" main event be a challenger of the week for Ospreay, even just in an eliminator match that they don't win, because they're angry that they got robbed of their main event spot, that the golden boy always gets what he wants. And if they don't want to involve Will in that, have a heel just complain in general about not being respected or treated properly, and demanding a match next week to prove themselves.

Simple. You still get the same result - the same main event match set up by the same angle - but doing the work to make it make sense doesn't just keep things logical, it gives you two or three other potential stories to spin out of it for the next week or two of TV.

Not into it being resolved by lazy tropes but the actual principle of not having a main event for your show booked is kayfabed easily enough. 

A main event announced in advance can move the needle, but more often than not wrestling fans also like the chaos of a live show and not knowing what's going to happen. So we rock up to an arena some weeks and just let the talent have it out with each other and see what kind of main event organically arises, because we also know from running these shows that one always does.

Good show - weird way to set it up/announce it but Ospreay v Moxley as the main event at All Out is a big time match. Sure they'll heat this up nicely over the next few weeks. Moxley looking stunned about the match was weird as I assumed the story was Mox arranged the match with Tony Khan or something, but yeah, great match.

All Out is looking really strong already with Mox/Ospreay, the 3 way ladder match and probably Mone v Thekla as your top 3 matches.

I really liked the way they announced Mox vs. Ospreay. Rare to find a new way to announce a pay per view main event that hasn't been done to death. I like the idea of two guys who don't necessarily want to fight each other being paired together due to wins and losses. Bring back the rankings!

It got a good reaction, too. Between the pop Moxley got during Will's entrance at the pay per view, and then the pop here for this graphic, perhaps I'm in the minority thinking the whole thing was a rubbish waste of time. Maybe the Will-joins-the-Death-Riders storyline has connected more than I originally thought.

Or maybe everyone has a similar view on Moxley, where you flip back and forth between hating him and loving him ("The Mox Flip Flop"?). This past week, he's managed to make me love him again. Seeing him live on Sunday, I found a whole new appreciation for him. His entrance when you're there in person is electric, he had a great match with Nigel, and then between seemingly forgetting the Continental Cup even existed, walking out without acknowledging it, and then doing that funny nod off-screen, I was reminded that intentionally or not, he's a hilarious man.

No wonder Will was charmed by him. I’d fall head over a heels into a bath for him, too.
