I could be wrong, but Eddie no longer being in the CCC all but confirms a Moxley-McGuinness final doesn’t it?

You either have Mox do a Death Rider vs Death Rider semi final while Nigel overcomes Kyle going after his ankle, or you get Nigel have a European Semi Final against Claudio while Moxley has to get past Kyle again. I can’t see OC or Garcia getting a look in - with Eddie in the mix, there was a mite of unpredictability but it’s just a waiting game to the match we expect now.

Another enjoyable Collision, although it’s a skippable one even with the cup matches. The outcomes you expect happened, and I think HG’s on the money in thinking the final is set in stone too, unless McGuinness ends up unable to wrestle.

If they do this again next year, they need the competition to feel more unpredictable - they need upsets, and a draw that truly feels random. Maybe Khan actually does a random draw when booking before tweaking it a bit, I don’t know. This year, I feel like simply having Mox and McGuinness feud would have made for better television and a more heated match at All In.

Jay White might be one of the more underrated acts in AEW. He’s in contention for being the best babyface promo they have at the moment, and the Bang Bang Gang feel really cool and exciting. I’d love to see White get a singles push.

I still view Nick Wayne in the way others do Adam Cole. I just can’t take him seriously as a wrestler. Clearly he’s talented in ring, but he’s so skinny that it’s hard to take anything he does seriously. Even at the mid card level he’s at, I feel like he’s over pushed.

Maya World continues to improve, although I’m still to be impressed by her to the point I think there’s value in her holding the TBS title over the many other strong options. Have her go feud with Athena on ROH and develop her skills there for a bit, give Shida the chance to have the run she should have had with the TBS belt.

I think maybe next year they should do a sort of 'preliminary rounds' for the main cup. Give some of the lower card wrestlers a chance on Collision or dark matches and could give someone a push from nowhere with 'the winner gets to wrestle on the main card at All In. Time to showcase yourselves guys' and then when you get to 16 (maybe have a caveat that those that have held either World title or TNT title get a bye to the main draw a la Premier League teams) you could have a couple of relatively unknowns in the draw and maybe throw in an upset so fans can get behind someone new/different. Once you get to the 16, you could do a 'blind draw' with say Tazz and JJ doing it, but you can still rig it the way you want with the balls or whatever used, so that they still get the same outcome they want, just potentially add in an upset.

The US audiences may not be so keen on it though, but I think most of them would get on board with it as being something new and different

I have to agree. Feels like the easiest match to set up without the hassle of a tournament. Mox is doing guest commentary as he regularly does, him and Nigel get into an argument and sparks fly and you're off to the races. Something like that would feel way more organic and exciting.

I’d never considered this, but I think this is a really good idea - you could even do some matches on ROH, and it potentially gives someone who makes the main tournament a chance to become a mainstay star. They have the talent to do something like this and to make it work.

I don't really agree. None of Mox's title defences for a while have had any juice and a spat over commentary wouldn't have given this one much. Plus Nigel hasn't done anything to be worthy. The tournament has given them ample opportunity to plug Wembley, filled TV fairly well, given Nigel a couple of great showcase matches and a lovely sideline story that shows how fucking tough he is and created something they can come back to year on year.

My main issue with the Continental Cup, is that it hasn't really felt like a big deal.

They've done a good job of making it meaningful. It had a good roster and good matches. It's clearly got a limit on how big it's going to feel because it's for a secondary title but they've established the format as something new and different. There are often complaints about the secondary titles lacking definition but the Continental Title being something you have to defend in a knockout cup and a round robin tournament every year makes that different too, and feel a bigger deal than the others, I think.

Wouldn't be opposed to Nigel winning it but regardless, I think the next champ after Nigel/Mox should be someone with real top line potential like a Jay White.

Devine Dominion squash and the STP crew.

That was my kind of Collision.

I forgot to reply to this point. I really like the Collision formula they have for the most part. Nice to see acts like STP who give Dark Elevation era vibes. I really like the handful of showcase matches, they make it feel much different to Dynamite and bring an alternate feel to the show and to the guys and girls in those matches. Lots of AEW matches feel like they're trying to have a great match, these feel like they're trying to get over some moves and characters. It's a very fun alternative. Then there are good recap videos, effective little promos, like Nigel and Ospreay this week, and more opportunities to see the women wrestle.

I know there was some puzzlement about Willow facing Maya on Collision, and the result was inevitible, but what they've definitely done putting WIllow in these angles with Mercedes, in a match where she beats Maya in a TV main event and in all of the promos and social videos is confirm that Willow is the babyface star of this promotion. That has been two years overdue. Willow should win at Wembley. Then Thekla should cycle back in for her rematch and a growing blood feud, which Willow should also win. Then would be the time to pull the trigger on the Statlander heel turn. And Willow should win that aswell.

Big picture, I'd have Megan Bayne as the next World Champion, in about a year when she's got a bit more seasoning and worked her gimmick into something that feels top drawer.

Dunno if it's good to anyone here or if it's already been mentioned here, but Concerts for Carers (the NHS staff app) are doing AEW Dynamite/Collision tickets for Glasgow at £6 a pop.

Cheers for this. I can't make it, but a friend of mine who is a single mum and a nurse has been able to get tickets for her and her wrestling-daft kids. I don't want to speak for her financial situation, but I get the impression things have been a bit tight for her as of late, so you posting this has made their week that little bit better.

Sad not to be going to Glasgow tonight, but getting the weekend off work to go to Wembley ruled this one out. That, plus the fact watching an AEW TV taping is such a marathon we haven’t made it to the end of either of the ones we’ve been to. It may actually be too much wrestling in one go.

Is Collision airing on its usual Saturday? There’s no way I’ll get that watched on Sunday morning before Wembley itself.

I'm going tonight, my first AEW show. Ia there usually an intermission between Dynamite and Collision?

Not usually, and if there is it tends to be around 5 minutes. It tends to be dark matches, then a few ROH matches, then a 5 minute break before launching into Dynamite followed immediately by Collision. Then sometimes a dark match to finish on!

you'll be better off praying for a Top Flight match so you can work a piss break / pint in.

You'll have a great time! But it is an exhausting amount of wrestling.
