I liked it too, it was really different and both men played their parts well. I'm with everyone else as far as the show is concerned - it was good, but they always seem to struggle to put on a red hot show immediately after a PPV. I'd have hoped there would be a better chance of them doing that after their biggest show of the year, but never mind. I've been a Gabe Kidd defender, but fuck me his line about not wanting to take Ospreay's title "yet" because he wanted to "take his life" was a stupid, shit line. "Take his career" works, but "take his life"? Come the fuck on, Gabe. It made him sound like an utter tool. You're not going to kill Will Ospreay, you bell end. Make your threats plausible. Mercedes cut another strong promo, and Thekla was very enjoyable. I'm slightly unsure about them running this match now, because I can see Thekla becoming mega popular if this is her face run. Good for AEW for giving Mercedes a big name contender right from the start, but I hope it doesn't kill any momentum Thekla inevitably builds up. I'm absolutely buzzing for the TLC match. I'd been hoping to see them take that route at All In, but better late than never. And heck, given that All In was my favourite show ever I'd be greedy not to say that this was anything other than the right move. The New Level were tremendous in the trios match. It's easy to forget just how brilliant a wrestler is when they're trapped in the WWE style, but goodness me they're already showing their worth. Absolutely pissing charisma in their interviews, nailing it in ring and very quickly showing exactly why TKO was stupid to even contemplate letting them walk. I'm assuming AEW put their gaming content on hold to allow for Austin Creed to launch some kind of reboot, given that WWE owns UpUpDownDown - I'm looking forward to whatever he ends up doing. And to Adam Cole and Evil Uno returning, I'm missing All Elite Arcade! Roll on Collision - it feels great to be able to enjoy wrestling this much again. Quote

They didn't take any big swings but assuming All In may have attracted some new fans I think AEW just need to get across the message that AEW is a fun, fast paced and action packed wrestling show to watch and they did just that. Pretty much everything on the show worked, they've set up three big and exciting PPV bouts right off the bat, nothing out stayed its welcome and the opening and closing matches were perfect party matches. The things that have always held AEW back are inconsistency, patchy booking and messy production. AEW has been very consistent recently, if they tighten up the booking and get around to refreshing the look of the show and dropping the WWE-lite visual language then the only way is up. With fan feeling and perception of WWE on the downturn now is the time to try and snatch some of them up. Edited September 4 by LaGoosh Quote

My feeling is that they were generally pausing podcast and online content - didn't Aubrey's podcast end around the same time as the gaming one? - with an aim to do a soft relaunch of it as a MyAEW exclusive. Austin Creed bringing a gaming show to AEW would definitely be the best big flagship product to lead on that - and Tyler Breeze recently confirmed that he's no longer under WWE contract either, so I could see him being brought into the mix. This team up with Persephone just doesn't work. Persephone doesn't need it and it has actively made her less interesting. Baker is fucking awful and should be left at home. I don't even know how they came up with the idea of pairing them up. Even on a purely visual level they just don't gel at all. Quote

They perhaps didn’t want to create a situation in which Britt Baker returning was the talking point rather than Rebel and ALS - probably a fair concern if so, the headline would end up being about Britt returning at the Rebel Heart show, moving the conversation away from ALS which I can’t imagine they want to do. She obviously got over, but I don’t think their connection had anything to do with that. I don’t mind the partnership between Persephone and Baker, and I think it’s far too soon to write it off as a bad match. If it was a last minute decision, the two of them won’t have had any time to figure out what the dynamic between them even is. Quote
