I don't think that's necessarily because of them though, it's quite understandable that he looked to experience to drag Spurs over the line. I like both of them a lot, but I think they could do with a really good loan to get a full season under their belt. Gray was probably our player of the season, an incredibly low bar I grant you. I visited Vallecas in 2018 and it lived up to its reputation as an enlightened neighbourhood within a comparatively regressive city - which I think even our own Chest would admit makes it basically the opposite of Croydon. Whereas with Freiburg last week I'd spent all of ten minutes there on my InterRail 19 years ago and it was pissing it down so didn't really mind Villa walking all over them. That makes nine English men's teams in Europe then. League Cup preliminary round now needed in late July for the second season running. Quote

PSG aren't the most dominant champions ever, but they do hit hard. That first leg with Bayern was ridiculous. And Arsenal haven't been the most convincing they could have been this season. Arteta seems a bit too conservative for his own good sometimes. Still, it's odd to me that a team as big as Arsenal haven't won the European Cup/Champion's League, and that Chelsea have won both European trebles before them. Hell, West Ham have more major European trophies. Quote

City won both the cups but obviously are in the Champions League instead but… why are only Bournemouth and Sunderland qualifying? Feels like we’ve been gypped out of a place. Quote

The League Cup nowadays only carries with it the Conference League last qualifying round place, which also reverts to the league so has gone to Brighton. England is only meant to have seven European spots and has ended up with nine so can hardly be said to have missed out. Quote

OK, so that’s the detail I was missing. I thought a lower league spot was qualifying for the Conference which was awarded anyway and a Europa spot vanished. 28 minutes ago, Fog Dude said: England is only meant to have seven European spots and has ended up with nine so can hardly be said to have missed out. Nobody thinks we’d “have missed out” because it looked to me like a Europa spot had vanished into thin air. And “meant to” is a misnomer when extra places have been earned on merit i.e coefficient and Palace winning last night. Quote
