Drunk too much and not had enough sleep so glad I had some extra days booked off work. Will think about the reality of a bottom-half Championship team taking on the Premier League at some point. There are some pretty good models to follow in Sunderland and, much as it pains me to say, Leeds, who both recruited incredibly well last summer. My brother said to me on Saturday morning "Surely no team can win three Championship play-off finals 1-0?" We both agreed it was massively unlikely. But fuck me, we've done it. We have a Turkish owner, he's a Simon Cowell type, and he's been throwing money around trying to get into the PL. One of the reasons we had a transfer embargo all season was because we overstretched trying to get promoted under Rosenior and ended up paying some transfer debts late. Ever since he took over, there's been a bit of a split in our transfer dealings between sensible, Championship ready signings, and mad gambles from the Turkish Super Lig. I suspect there's already a debate going on between Jarred Dublin, who'll have a list of top Championship players, like Ipswich's recruitment last season, and the Chairman, who'll be ringing Fenerbahce to see if Ederson and Kante want a game. Lankshear as well, I think he's earned the right for a Prem loan.
