DavidB6937 Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 Story unfolding still but pretty mad. Hilarious after The Rock made such a big fuss about it. Could we finally get it? It's going to be the fucking Saudis isn't it. The good old crazy WWE days are back in full force. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted May 22, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 22, 2025 Sell out two nights at Wembley, get a petty win over Tony Khan and undermine The Rock, making him look dumb for announcing New Orleans. Quote
Chili Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 (edited) I'm taking a mental punt that he wants to out do Wrestlemania 2 and have it in three locations. Saudi for the dosh, Mexico for the Forbidden Door rip-off with NXTAAA and Japan for the Meltzer stars and whatever Japanese office the buy-out this year. Get The Rock to somehow appear at all three (Hogan can give him some tips how to beat the dateline issue). Vince returns at the Saudi leg obviously. Edited May 22, 2025 by Chili Real answer. Paid Members 2Xtreme_lives Posted May 22, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 22, 2025 It would be mad it Saudis have both the rumble and mania in the same year Wembley hotels already getting booked up and selling out Quote
FUM Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 It’s a real shame that there is greater potential than ever for a WrestleMania in the UK yet, in their current ticket price landscape, I’d be priced out. I’m not even skint, I earn an excellent wage and it’s still too expensive. My buzz for any potential Mania in the UK has completely deteriorated because of it. Certain if this is international it will be Saudi anyway though. Can’t see London putting up enough cash to make them cancel an already promoted event. Quote

Be interesting how or if it affects future bids by cities if it does, as you can imagine they might give it the two fingers if they can be gazumped by someone else down the line Quote
Infinity Land Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 Back to Las Vegas according to the New Orleans sources that broke the story. Quote

Paid Members mim731 Posted May 23, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 23, 2025 Sounds like it's going to be Vegas again from the reports doing the rounds from the usual places. https://www.fightful.com/wrestling/report-wrestlemania-42-be-held-las-vegas Quote
Paid Members Weezenal Posted May 23, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 23, 2025 As a money making machine in some ways it makes sense to just stick to the same place. Assume they could use the same set and everything as before. Vegas has all the tourists as well so they’ll get an audience regardless. Quote
Paid Members marc2j Posted May 23, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 23, 2025 (edited) This may be one of the scummiest moves in a long list of scummy things the company has done in a long time. So many regular WM travellers on the FB group have already bought and paid for travel and/or booked hotels - its not like a 'oh theres a war and we need to make an excuse' move either. Its not just a press release, or a website address, its their top star (well, he thinks he is anyway) announcing the dates and them reneging on the deal. I hope theres some class action nerds who take them to the fucking cleaners, but in reality we all know they'll just get away with it. Again. Edited May 23, 2025 by marc2j The Rock is a bald fraud Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted May 23, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 23, 2025 It's not just fans who will have already paid for travel and hotels - think how many indie promotions and conventions/fan-fests will have already booked, and likely paid a sizeable deposit, on venues for their Wrestlemania weekend shows. It will be financially ruinous for some of them to have to cancel those, and then pay again for Vegas. I could see a situation where some of the smaller promotions just run an alternative "Wrestlemania weekend" in New Orleans, even without the draw and the captive audience of Wrestlemania, because it would be too costly to cancel and run Vegas instead. MVP RULZ Posted May 23, 2025 Posted May 23, 2025 Definitely a move that has upset a lot of people We were planning on going and have a hotel booked (free cancellation at least until a month before arrival), I've been looking at flights and working out costs, time away already booked from work And now they've just taken the money grab and said a big FU to loads of fans It's not just that as well but away from the fans issues it's also a bit crap Mania wise to go back to the same venue 2 years in a row. I mean people moaned about Dallas and New Orleans getting multiple Manias in the space of 5-6 years but going back to back is all just a bit boring. We now need to decide whether to just go to New Orleans on holiday (most likely outcome) as the dates for Vegas look to be moving a week later then originally planned or cancel going at all or go to Vegas but the new dates make it more difficult with schools already started back after Easter by then and we've already gor the time of work and the added costs will be huge being in Vegas Just a real downer and kick to a lot of fans Quote
The King of Old School Posted May 23, 2025 Posted May 23, 2025 It was a dreadful Mania crowd this year, imagine wanting to go back to that the year after. I know it's purely financial. Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted May 23, 2025 Posted May 23, 2025 (edited) Screwed over a lot of fans that have already made plans. But, they know that there will a bunch of them that will change their plans and also know that there will an entire other chunk of fans that won’t have made plans yet, so either way they’ll sell the tickets they need to. Not defending them in any way, but at the end of the day they’re going to take the best deal that benefits them, and fans will turn up regardless. As with previous instances there will be a lot of noise being made by people about how mad they are and that they’ll never go again, but how many of them actually follow through on that is a different story. As for Wrestlemania UK, I honestly think the Saudis will get it before we do. Whenever the current two shows a year deal is up, expect them to announce “a new multi-year partnership to bring more PLE’s to the Kingdom, starting with Wrestlemania Insert Number” @MVP RULZ, if I were in your situation I’d just take the holiday in New Orleans rather than faff about changing plans and incurring extra costs.
