The turn was spoilt to me by voice note from someone I don't speak to all that much anymore, but even if I'd have avoided that I'd have had if spoilt by overhearing a teen on the train talk about it.

Maybe I'd have felt different if I'd have seen it unspoilt but it didn't really do it for me. The commentary for what's meant to be an absolutely massive iconic moment was so bad. Cole sounding like he's reading from a script, no genuine emotion there. 'What the hell are you doing, John?'

I think the era of genuine heel heat with something like this is long gone but, as mentioned earlier, the crowd didn't help me engage either.

Also, Cena playing up to the crowd and like he's a full on face up to that moment makes it more shocking but I don't really get why he's doing all that if he's sold his soul or whatever anyway. I know I sound like no fun saying that and people likely won't agree. I also get that he can't just stand there not reacting for 15 minutes - the way they did the turn is probably the way it had to go really. But for whatever reason instantly flicking to evil mode didn't do it for me. Having said that, I didn't see it unspoilt.

I don't know, it was a few years behind the rest of pop culture but wrestling is absolutely postmodern now. It isn't really possible to run a show where the crowd doesn't break the fourth wall, which profoundly changes what wrestling is. Big heel turns getting unanimous boos is no longer really a thing. That belongs to the old modern form of wrestling before the audience became quite so willing to play with the show's conventions.

Not going to be for everyone but I actually think Bianca did a decent job here. You don't get many women getting something to actually sink their teeth into in WWE so she sold this pretty well I thought.

Bob Holly would probably make a great trainer (YES I know the Tough Enough thing exists). Always liked Bob, though I've actually met him and was stunned that he didn't stove my face in for lols and was actually quite a decent enough fella. Just a bit intense. Still we got him to wear a Santa Hat so he might have mellowed.

It looked like the plan was meant to be Cena holding Cody's legs down and Travis holding his arms down but he clearly wasn't getting it. I don't think the slap was the original plan. Doesn't make it any better. 

I'm guessing the heel turn was always Cena's idea but I do wonder if that plan always included The Rock. Cena turning heel as a result of his desperate need to win one last title is a good storyline. I'm less keen on Cena turning heel because The Rock told him to. It feels like it cheapens it. 

I'm curious to see where it goes though.

I thought Michael Cole did pretty well but I have lowered my expectations a lot. It's annoying that Pat McAfee is so painful to listen to but also seems to improve Cole.
