I think I'd had Yorkshire pudding with golden syrup for years before I ever had it as part of a roast dinner, it's how my grandparents always served them. I still sort of think of it as the "default" way to serve them, even though I haven't had it in 25+ years.

I've never seen chips dipped in Guinness, but I know someone who whenever we got McDonalds would dip his fries in his milkshake.

And I know a woman who always puts salt in her lager, and insists it's something they do in Romania, though I've never seen any other Romanian person I know do it.

I can see the benefit to the chip being dipped in Guinness, but i can't imagine it would be beneficial to the Guinness, surely you get a film of fat on the surface, and vinegar? maybe pout a bit of G into a smaller pot purely for dunking, i can see that working.

i think all of my eating habits are pretty normal, although people at work seemed offended when i told them I like cauliflower cheese with mixed Kebab meat and chili sauce, but its a great combination and not that crazy.

My wifes dad is from the Phillipines and whenever he stays with us, I am baffled by his eating habits.

He consumes a lot of fruit (mainly apples) but he insists on dicing them up and dipping each individual segment into salt. If he is feeling extra fancy he will dip into salt and then fish sauce.

He also has a habit of starting every day by pouring vinegar into a bowl and then putting fresh garlic and chillies into the vinegar. He will return to this bowl throughout the day to dip pork scratchings into it.

Recently he bought a big frozen packet of pigs blood, hearts and lungs. The label said "once defrosted, cook within 24 hours" - he thought that the instructions were to cook this for 24 hours straight in a slow cooker.

The more I think about it, the more that this guy might actually be an eat clean UKFF legend.

This sounds fantastic and so simple!

When I went to Rhodes a couple of months ago, one of the beers I quite liked there was Alpha, both their regular lager and their lager with sea salt. There's definitely something to it.

I only discovered this a few years ago, when I bought Pinakurat from the local Oriental supermarket.

The owner told me that Filipinos usually have it for dipping meat in, and it was nice, but I mainly ended up getting it to put on fried noodles, which is what Mauritians normally do (there's a big Haka Chinese community there); we normally make a similar sauce of garlic, chillies, and vinegar, with a little sugar in as well.

When I eat any biscuit, but mostly chocolate digestives, when it's in my mouth I take a big gulp of orange squash and have it sort of mixed in my mouth.

It's a style of lager from Germany, a gose. It's made with partial sea water, and is one of the few exemptions to the beer purity laws.

Putting salt in cheap nasty beer seems to be an actual thing all over, counteracting the bitterness. Very common in Mexico and around Texas, too, supposedly.

Had a breakfast cob in Dublin airport this morning. It was topped with salsa sauce and red kidney beans.

Trust me lads, it worked.
