Paid Members FLips Posted August 14, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 14, 2024 (edited) Brown sauce sarnies is probably the only weird combo I eat, though it’s not often and usually when I fancy a sandwich but have nowt in. I did try lemon curd and ham sandwiches a couple times when I was a teenager as a lazy substitute for Pork and Apple, but don’t do that now. I do eat Big Macs and only Big Macs layer by layer though. Have done since I was a teenager and don’t know why. I also eat Kiwis with the skin on, the entire apple including core, the green stems on Strawberries and the slices of lemons/limes you get in drinks rind and all. davertfnewman Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 I put Worcestershire sauce on shrimps instead of vinegar and used to dip salt and vinegar crisps in minestrone soup. Quote

RedTwoster Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 My great granny, being from a remote area, had no idea that Yorkshire pudding was not actually a pudding and she used to serve it up with custard. No one wanted to embarrass her, so no one ever said. It was absolutely horrible, but she seemed to like it. Quote
deathrey Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 Coke milk. I thought this was something all Indians drank but discovered as I grew up that this is not the case, just people from my side of Punjab (there is a river that splits Punjab and people on either side of the river have a bit of rivalry - think North/South divide). Half a glass of Coca Cola, half a glass of milk plus ice, better if it's all whizzed up in a blender. Not something I have very often any more but we would drink copious amounts growing up. I wonder if it was a money saving ploy because Coca Cola was expensive? My side of Punjab is the working class/farmer side, people from the other side are often disgusted at the drink. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted August 14, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted August 14, 2024 We had left over Yorkshire puddings with golden syrup as pudding as a child. I would still eat that now to be honest. Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted August 14, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 14, 2024 I once put mashed potatoes on a pizza. It was actually nice. Quote
Paid Members JLM Posted August 14, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 14, 2024 (edited) Oh holy shit Yorkshire puddings with custard is a good one. At least it wasn't black pudding with custard eh. My nana used to carry a little pill box full of Sweetex artificial sweeteners, and had a stash of non-dairy creamer milk packet things you get in cafes in her handbag. She would use these at cafes or if she ordered coffee at the end of a meal as she thought this was healthier than using the milk/cream/sugar they would provide. On her first trip to a Chinese restaurant with my mum in China Town in Liverpool, my ma ordered a pot of Jasmine Tea, then watched in horror as my nana added two Sweetex and a packet of fake cream to her cup. There is a pizza place by me who do a white base pizza (bechamel type sauce rather than tomato) with little roast potatoes on it, it's actually quite nice Quote
