Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted August 14 Paid Members Share Posted August 14 Inspired by Marmite on weetabix is grim, but my brother used to eat Branston Pickle on dry weetabix and he also liked toasted After Eight sandwiches as a child. So any more for any more? Anyone like a combo of things that most people would just go "No thanks I'm not hungry"
Paid Members Dead Mike Posted August 14 Paid Members Share Posted August 14 Pickled red cabbage on a buttered, toasted crumpet. Marvellous
King Mal the Glorious
I once put a little bit of marmalade on a pizza and I've never heard the end of it. It's not even that weird, I've seen pizzerias that do it!
Members SuperBacon
When I eat any biscuit, but mostly chocolate digestives, when it's in my mouth I take a big gulp of orange squash and have it sort of mixed in my mouth. Actual orange juice works well also, but squash is the best for it. Its definitely an accidental childhood thing, and my kids think it's horrific. CTXRussomark
I used to eat yoghurt sandwiches when I was young, and it's one of the few things from that age I can vividly remember. Nothing fancy - literally some buttered bread with a load of yoghurt (strawberry mainly) spooned on to it. Unbelievably messy as you can imagine, but I used to love them. No idea what possessed me or what made me stop.
Cousin Jim Bob
I think it was probably one of you lot on here that introduced it to me but Peanut Butter on crumpets works way better than it has any right to. At the opposite end of the scale would be spreading butter on Weetabix and eating them as a savoury snack. This is a delicacy in some parts of the UK apparently. Paid Members JLM Posted August 14 Paid Members Share Posted August 14 (edited) I LIVED with my aunty for about six months when waiting for a house move to go through. She wouldn’t let me buy or order in my own food and it offended her greatly if I didn’t eat her meals. She was a pretty good cook but she could not do Sunday roasts at all. Soggy roasties, nuked leathery beef, watery gravy. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. Fortunately for me, she was a Costco shopper and had catering sized bottles of condiments in stock at all times. My move was to pour obscene amounts of hoisin sauce onto the meal, mixing it in with the gravy as best I could to make it a bit less obvious. I could happily chug hoisin sauce directly from the bottle, so dousing these sad roast dinners in it was a life saver for six months there. So yeah, shitloads of hoisin sauce on a Sunday roast. This is a delicacy in some parts of the UK apparently. As much as I love Athletico Mince, I am never doing that. Something I started doing was because of the old Kraft interstitial adverts I'd seen from watching old Friars' Club comedy roasts on Youtube, as the events took place at the Kraft Music Hall (in New York, I think). They'd have recipe adverts, and one of them was a "breakfast sandwich" which consisted of French toast, with a layer of whipped cream cheese (which I have never, ever seen in my life anywhere) and grape jam. French toast is a faff, and I can't find whipped cream cheese anywhere, but sweet sandwiches of jam and cream cheese are actually really nice. EDIT: Wow, @JLM really is the northern me. I adore Hoisin sauce - crispy duck and pancakes is my favourite Chinese food ever. I don't know if I'd douse everything in it, but I put Hoisin sauce in sandwiches, have it with chips, or re-fry leftover roast chicken in it for wraps. Merzbow
Ignore that the tweet is from that cunt Ian but was the decision to dip inspired by her?
