REITA of Japanese band The GazettE. They were a huge Visual Kei act, which is - to over-simplify it - a kind of Japanese equivalent to glam rock and hair metal, taken to ridiculous extremes. He was 42.

My ex was a huge fan of theirs. Not long after we broke up she went to Japan on her own to go to one of their shows, and owned a shitload of expensive fancy limited and deluxe edition import vinyl and whatnot, so I've been around their music a lot, and this came out of nowhere, as far as I can tell.

Either the Grim Reaper is getting lazy or we've stopped noticing.

Best selling author C J Sansom has snuffed it.

I was totally hooked by the early Shardlake books and Just Some Girl recommends his alt history books like Dominion.

It's a real shame as the Disney adaptation of Shardlake is about to start.

Great actor, he was completely menacing in Line of Duty.

A few people (nothing official though) saying Bernard Hill has died. He was great, wasn’t he? Yosser Hughes is one of the most memorable sympathetic characters ever created.

Yeah Bernard Hill usually had a knack for bringing a character to life, even in smaller roles. Most will remember him as the Captain from Titanic. Again a fairly sympathetic figure and Hill done a memorable job in capturing his dignified angst as he appeared to recognise his fate before everyone else.

Bernard Hill’s portrayal of Yosser Hughes was fantastic. Set before mental health was in people’s minds, his scene in the confession box and the picnic are two scenes that I will always remember and in reality how much society back in Thatchers Britain drove a lot of people to despair.
