  1. I like him. He was good in "We're the Millers" and has really established himself as one of the brightest up and coming actors in recent years.
  2. I should have anticipated this. Unfortunately despite much speculation, the motivation remains unclear. It was ever thus. I'll second the spellbinding magicians KH has recommended. I seen a video of them making a service bus full of passengers appear out of nowhere with "It's all coming back to me" by Celine Dion as a musical accompaniment. It was unforgettable. Edit - I wrote this before checking out the link. I won't ruin the surprise but if you follow KHs link expecting to see two magicians making a service bus full of passengers appear out of nowhere with "It's all coming back to me" by Celine Dion as a musical accompaniment, you won't be disappointed.
  3. A Chicken crossed the road near where I live yesterday. This seemed to cheer everybody up.
  4. On a technical level, what he's just done there is the rapping equivalent of playing Frere Jacques on a recorder. It was only marginally better than a middle aged white man trying to spontaneously rap for the first time in their life and I was half expecting to hear "My name is Max Caster and I'm here to say,,,," Turgid.
  5. A few years ago I had to deal with a client called Saddam Hussein. It's amazing how someone having a name like that can completely throw you, and to this day Ive no idea what was going on in my head that caused me to overthink things to the degree that I did.
  6. Yes I've ended up falling into a big Borderlands hole and I won't be escaping for the foreseeable. Tiny Tina's Wonderland is on the list - looks great and a bit different stylistically from the main series. I find the Switch is a good way to enjoy games that are showing their age. Being on the smaller screen and being able to play anywhere tends to paper over the cracks a bit.
  7. A few years old, but foolishly I'd always given this game a wide berth until this week - Borderlands 3. I usually always leaned more towards realism with Shooters. With other genres I could tolerate a less serious style but with Shooting games, I preferred it to be as lifeline as possible. After seeking recommendations for games like The Division, somebody suggested Borderlands and as it was on sale I put my prejudice to one side. I feel like ive been missing out big time and I'm troubled at how much video game gold I've dismissed over the years. It's a blast, and complete fun from start to finish. If I had one criticism it would be the constant turmoil agonising over which weapons to throw away, but apart from that it's pretty much perfect. Once I'm done with that I'll be looking to pick up the 3 previous titles for the Switch.
  8. As far as Khan is concerned I don't think there's much substance to what he's saying. There's an election next week, and talking about the Superbowl and Wrestlemania is money for old rope in terms of making headlines. He'd also present himself as the man of the hour if any of those things were to happen further down the road. HHHs response is more interesting. I don't think a Wrestlemania in London is at the top of their list of priorities but nor do I think they'd be against making it happen if the numbers washed their face. I used to get the sense that they almost felt the fate of the company was tied up in how well the next big PPV performed, and that anything that might put a dent in the numbers would be avoided out of a misplaced sense of caution. Due to a number of factors I feel those days are behind us, and I'm more optimistic about the chances of it happening than I've ever been. There's not much room for sentiment in this cynical business, but I can't say that as a UK van I've ever felt that I haven't been valued. There are instances where they could have done better, like the cost of tickets for Clash at the Castle for instance, but on some level I think there's an appreciation there. I think a Wrestlemania over here would hold a certain appeal for the performers as well.
  9. I feel dreadful for people who weren't able to get tickets or were priced out. Those prices are atrocious and I feel a bit annoyed at myself for giving in. It's safe to say that if it wasn't the only Scottish PLE I'm ever likely to see, and if McIntyre wasn't near the top of the card I would have thought twice about paying half that. A part of my reasoning was that I won't need to pay for travel and accommodation, which is something I've always had to do previously, so overall it's probably in line with or less than what I'd spend ordinarily. Very difficult to justify if you're having to factor additional costs in though, and people who might otherwise have been tempted will rightly be giving this a wide berth.
  10. When I followed the link some catastrophic fuck up happened and by the time I joined the queue there were 14000 people ahead of me. It went down quick enough but by the time I got in nothing was coming up. I spent a bit of time refreshing the search and tickets for £1K came up. Absolutely not. Kept at it and managed to get a Combo ticket for £500. It's much more than I wanted to pay, but given I've waited decades for something like this in Scotland I had to just bend over and take it, as I don't fancy the odds of getting something cheaper down the road. As they say in Chernobyl it's not great but it's not terrible.
  11. I'm in two minds about this. I listened to Gideon Falter for an hour on LBC on Sunday night as he fielded calls from members of the public. Unless you're bent on a car crash for the ages you'd need to have a fair amount of confidence in yourself as a communicator to undertake something like that, and putting to one side the substance of his argument he held his own, this man is an effective operator. It may well be that he went to the rally looking to make a point. Theres nothing wrong with that if there's an important point to be made and only becomes problematic if what transpires is manipulated to any degree or if events are taken out of context to the extent that the narrative presented is completely at odds with what actually happened. Thankfully, there's enough footage so that people can reach an informed conclusion for themselves. Two things stand out for me that aren't mutually exclusive. Policing these events is an absolute shitemare and the people doing it are often put in impossible positions. I also think that some of the language the officer used is unfortunate but entirely forgivable given the circumstances. I think he was trying to be open and honest to try and arrive at some common ground but through no fault of his own they ended up moving further away from where they needed to be. It happens, it'll be a learning experience for him and I hope he's able to move on as being thrust into the public eye like that can be quite traumatic. The other thing that stands out for me is the point that Gideon Falter may or may not have been trying to make. At a basic level, I'd say it's the possibility that some of these matches are an uncomfortable or possibly threatening place for some Jewish people to be. I can't honestly say that concern doesn't have any merit. In the vast majority of footage I've seen the marches have been peaceful, and Jews have attended the marches themselves without issue. There is an element within the Jewish diaspora that is antizionist, and they are often represented at events where the State of Israel is the subject of protest, so that isn't surprising in itself. I'm just worried about the possibility that some Jews feel parts of London are regularly becoming no-go areas or that they are routinely having their rights and freedoms curtailed. As much as there are Jews that participate in the marches, I've also heard from Jews that ostensibly don't have an agenda who give plausible accounts that are concerning. I don't want the right to protest curtailed, but I'd be a lot more relaxed if I had confidence that Jews didn't have legitimate issues or concerns. You're never going to keep everyone happy, and there will be a minority that are a lot happier being unhappy. As long as every reasonable step is being taken we can all rest easy, and my worry is that we are a fair bit away from that point at the moment.
  12. Is the game finished? This caught my eye but it said "Game Preview" when I went to download it. You possibly might not be able to tell whether it's 100% the finished article, but does it feel more or less a complete experience? Stardew Valley (after many years) has run it course and the follow up from Concerned Ape "Haunted Chocolatier" is probably some ways off, so looking for something else to give me a taste of the good life. Haunted Chocolatier looks incredible too I should add.
  13. The Mrs came back from the Fair with a bag of Candy Floss and it was wonderful. First time in decades and I can't rule out going to look for more tomorrow.
  14. Khali being shameless/shrewd enough to get himself pictured holding the WWE Championship aloft at any opportunity does get him a few bonus points. He doesn't give a fuck what the "boys in the locker room" think. That pictures framed and taking pride of place at Khali HQ.
  15. Khali is certainly near the bottom of the pile, and I felt much the same way about his reign back then. It's slightly different though because Khali was presented as an unstoppable monster from the get go, and as a Wrestling fan I've been conditioned over the years to accept that at any moment, some freak might show up and dominate for a bit, whether it be a Punjabi Nightmare or a giant in a flesh coloured body stocking. Jinder broke new ground, because now any nobody that's been floating around the bottom of the card can suddenly appear at the top of the mountain despite not having any of the tools to be an acceptable champion. That I can't abide.
