CM SPUNK! CM SPUNK!

I know I should be more mature, but this got a proper giggle out of me.

That joke also works if you've seen his terrible horror film Girl on the Third Floor.

Five years since his AEW debut. There’s no greater way of describing it than this YouTube comment. It was so beautifully perfect until it wasn’t.

I think it's still brilliant. Most of his run holds up. The post-All Out stuff goes downhill but it doesn't take away from that. There aren't many moments in Wrestling in the last 20 years particularly that I can remember where and when I watched it and how it felt but that's one of them.

Everyone's moved on. AEW are in a good place. Punk is where he is. That moment hasn't lost too much. For me, anyway.

Oh, absolutely. Even knowing how badly it all ends, that period between The First Dance and the Dog Collar match at Revolution is one of the greatest runs of all time. Easily some of Punk’s best ever work.

He’d likely never admit it, but I think it’s pretty obvious even Punk and WWE know how incredible that first six month period in AEW was. It’s the very reason they’ve been reheating those nachos for three years straight.

Punk had to come to AEW to get his love back. Sure it ended badly but his WWE run hasn't been awful all things considered. Wrestling with that grumpy arse is better than without him.

I loved the MJF feud, but his 'run' with Kingston was just amazing. It was literally a 3 week feud, which just popped up because Eddie Kingston thought some wise arse was looking at him funny and then BAM, they have a terrific face off and a great short explosive match that the crowd was molten for. Sure it had a bit of lore, but they did a good enough job to just say "they don't like each other and neither of them can help themselves". It didn't need to be a multi month epic, it was just this mad explosion in a fireworks factory.

The fella freaking out in the crowd kills it for me.

It is, and yes. I only dipped into AEW for Punk and Bryan, and every match I saw was great.

That debut and his come back at Survivor Series still give me goosebumps, with that AEW debut being one of the best pops of all time. Crowd are absolutely beside themselves.

Just my opinion, chief. 👍

It's balls though, isn't it? It's a guy who hadn't wrestled in 7.5 years coming back to a major promotion in front of a home town crowd who'd filled out the United Center in the hope/belief that he'd be there. If that's not a genuine audience, nothing ever will be again. That lad and Rick Moranis from WrestleMania 7 are the peak of crowd members.

Let's not forget Macaulay Culkin. "That youngster" was having the time of his life.
