Paid Members Supremo Posted May 29, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted May 29, 2022 (edited) I don’t know what would be worse. MJF leaving, so we never get the Wardlow match, or them putting MJF over Wardlow to placate whatever complaints he has. Just pay the man, Tony. Whatever the highest pay bracket is, put Max in it. He’s absolutely worth it. He’s delivered more in 2022 than anyone in forever. Never mind two feud-of-the-year candidates, both Punk and Wardlow have been feud-of-all-time candidates. I still refuse to believe MJF would ever actually go to WWE, though. He must know how that would play out. Paid Members LaGoosh Posted May 29, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted May 29, 2022 (edited) From all reports, Tony is happy to give MJF a top guy salary but wants him to extend his contract in return (a very common negotiation tactic and makes sense for AEW) while MJF just wants more money and no extension and will refuse to budge. I couldn't really see MJF doing very well in WWE long term. He'd probably end up in a manager role. It's easy to forget how small he is, he'd make The Miz look massive. And no way he gets such a free reign on his promos either. Edited May 29, 2022 by LaGoosh

Merzbow
MJF is the best guy in the company right now and seemingly the only one booking a real hot angle, too. Give him favoured nations, baby.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted May 29, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted May 29, 2022 surely this MJF thing is a work?

Paid Members FLips Posted May 29, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted May 29, 2022 If it is a work then they really need to have a think about what a good work is, because conning a load of fans out of a meet a greet and then having one half of arguably the biggest match on the card threaten to not show up to your PPV isn't a good look, and is more likely to lose fans and buys than gain them. If it isn't a work and it is about his contract then he needs to get his head out of his arse. He was virtually unknown before joining AEW and they've given him free reign to say what he wants, antagonise and belittle fans at shows and meet and greets and have featured him constantly against some of their biggest stars. Of course AEW want him long term if they're giving him all that. He's a star because of the company and quite honestly with his size and shit attitude towards fans that WWE would never let him do in a million years, he won't get far outside of this company. Paid Members LaGoosh Posted May 29, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted May 29, 2022 (edited) Also if MJF walks out on AEW you'd think that would actually put WWE off him. They don't want wrestlers that kick off and walk out when they're unhappy especially after recent events. They want wrestlers who shut the fuck up and do exactly as they're told. Paid Members Supremo Posted May 29, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted May 29, 2022 “AEW Double or Nothing is a scripted live TV show, whose characters are expected to perform the requirements of their contract.” If Max doesn’t show then they need to reshuffle the card and have Wardlow murder everyone in that dog shit six-person mixed tag, leaving as TNT Champion. Tim Healys Chutney Spoon
Or just keep interrupting matches until MJF shows up...
Guest
Tony & MJF are close, MJF recommended most of the talent you see get tryouts on dark etc to Tony. that they are getting this to the point that people see this as a real thing in this day and age is incredible
WyattSheepMask
Maybe he’s turning up at WES next week, or “Controlling his narrative”. But yeah, if it’s a work, potentially fucking people with over with their actual cash isn’t the way to go. I mean, why would AEW offer him more money if there’s a risk of him buggering off to WWE at the end of his deal anyway? There has to be some give on MJF’s side. However, I think MJF is playing this all wrong. He’s not going to get anywhere near as favourable a deal with WWE if he’s clearly not wanting to stay at AEW. Plus, his behaviour, in light of Sasha/Naomi, may make them more wary. It’s a really daft move, if it’s true.

DavidB6937
It's not a work. They'd be fucking stupid to mess around with the fans at the meet and greet like that and I refuse to believe Tony is that dumb or desperate.
