Chili Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 I went into All Out 2021 feeling a bit meh about the show and it ended up being absolutely cracking. I feel the same for this, I think it'll be amazing show, but it seems regardless it has its card marked a bit before it's happened. Quote
Tim Healys Chutney Spoon Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 One thing that may protect both MJF and Wardlow is the bell ringing and MJF running like mad from the ring knowing he's going to get his arse kicked. He gets counted out but then on Dynamite he gives it all the 'I didn't need to prove anything to him or to you. You people don't deserve me beating Pig and yeah he can have his contract but it's in there that he's NEVER getting a match with me again, unless there's a title on the line' ('or something like that). Wardlow then gets a TNT title shot, buries Scorpio, gets his match with MJF but Wardlow gets to call the shots - no count out, no DQ, no outside interference, etc. He then of course gets his opportunity to absolutely batter MJF, but he batters him so much MJF comes back as a face due to the beating he had put on him. I'll go back to the beers I think...it sounded good in my head but written down, not so much... Quote

Version1.0 Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 There are 50 wrestlers booked for this show, 50! Quote

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind a quick count out finish provided it leads to Wardlow finally getting his hands on MJF when it’s for the world title down the line. Quote
Keith Houchen Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 And there’ll be a game 7 after the Heat beat the Celtics. Quote

Is there overtime? Is there a realistic prospect of AEW longing out the PPV by sending out random wrestlers for matches until the the game finishes and they can go to the main event? There could be, it could even be double overtime. Hopefully not though, not for AEW reasons but because I’m a Celtics fan and I’m hoping for an easy win! Quote

They will likely keep some of the matches that don’t mean much if they are 5 mins or 20 mins for that last slots before the main Quote

I don’t really understand Tony Khan’s logic here. If someone has decided not to buy the PPV because of the basketball, I can’t imagine they’d be any more likely to shell out the money just because they’re guaranteed to see the main event. Quote
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted May 28, 2022 Awards Moderator Posted May 28, 2022 Can you not watch a PPV after the fact in America? Is it ‘watch it live or you don’t see it’? Even before the Network I remember Sky Box Office replayed the WWE shows a couple of times a day over the following week. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted May 28, 2022 Paid Members Posted May 28, 2022 This will be the first AEW PPV since it's inception at All In 2018 that I'm not particularly excited to watch. The build has been poor, with a good handful of matches ones I don't want to watch. The threat of a 13 match card also getting stretched even further might even stop me staying up for it too. Wardlow vs MJF should be cracking and I'm really hoping it's the start of big things for Wardlow. Punk vs Hangman hasn't been entirely awful build-wise but certainly not up to the standards you would expect from AEW or for Punk having a title shot. Jade Cargill vs Anna Jay should be ok, if a little pointless, and Anarchy in the Arena has a lot of potential based on previous tag brawls they've done. Why Hookhausen vs Nese and Sterling is on the pre-show is beyond me but it could be a laugh. The rest of the card though, fucking hell. Kyle O'Reilly vs Darby getting shot on to an already 12 match card is a joke. The absolute plummet Darby's stock has done the last few months is astounding. I think being branded as "the next Jeff Hardy" all this time and then seeing the absolute state of Jeff Hardy now has made people second guess if it's a good idea. Kyle O'Reilly shouldn't have even been hired. The House of Black vs Death Triangle has been going on forever and has very rarely been interesting. The most interesting thing has been HoB and Julia Hart which now seems to just be over? Death Triangle need to split up real soon because as singles stars the three of them could really be going places but together they're stagnant. American Top Team and everyone involved in this match can get lost. Awful from start to finish, you really worry this might be the very first big crack in Tony Khan booking that will unravel from here. The Hardys vs The Bucks has some potential purely for the fact The Bucks might be able to to drag something out of them, but wow The Hardys need to go. Matt was doing bad enough on his own but somehow with Jeff and their proper music they've got worse. I really hope they didn't sign Jeff to a long term deal, he's beat. Jurassic Express vs Team Taz vs Keith Lee and Swerve could have some decent spots but I'd prefer it was JE vs Team Taz. That big fat plancha poor Powerhouse had to take off Keith Lee was awful. Swerve could go places alone but the shine is well and truly off Keith at this point. Wardlow, Hobbs and Luchasaurus are more interesting big guys, and he doesn't have the speed anymore. Britt Baker vs Ruby Soho is going to be a wreck because neither of them are any good and Ruby certainly doesn't have the talent or star power to carry DMD to anything special. Samoa Joe vs Adam Cole could be good quality wise but I'd be happy if I never saw Adam Cole again in my life. He's a catchphrase with two of the worst finishers in the company. Thunder Rosa vs Serena Deeb could be OK but poor Thunder Rosa has been a dreadful champion and Serena Deeb has promo'd herself onto the shitlist since the Shida feud. Not even bothering to learn a single sports team and instead saying "all of your sports teams" is a type of lazy you just can't write. Tony Khan at this point must only be hording talent for the big TV talks coming up and then after he can do what he;s done with the people he's fired so far and just slyly and arrogantly bin them off without any explanation and then ghost them. You’d think in this day & age it would be either replayed or available OnDemand so long as you’ve paid for it. I believe that’s the case if you buy it through FITE at least. I can’t help but feel as though the show needs a big angle at some point, whether that’s a debut of some sort or a proper heel turn in the main event Edited May 28, 2022 by WyattSheepMask Quote
