Poor Jinder (and HOOK) have both took a bit of a kicking throughout this little dummy spit which isn't really fair.

I presume the match for Jinder is a bit of a sweetener for making him look quite the cunt last week. It's a TV main event, it's not a massive deal, same as I presume HOOK Vs Joe will be a TV Main Event, not a massive deal.

And to be honest I think that’s half the problem. His return on Raw last week made him look a chump, and this probably is a sweetener but comes out of the blue. But yeah, I do feel for Jinder, it didn’t need to be said.

Don't be silly, the ROH Tag Titles will be in the main event.  Joe v Hook will be second on Rampage.

He has got a point though, fucking Jinder in 2023

Jinder in 2024 though is a completely different prospect. Dollar signs.

And that's the weird thing about all of it. It's not exactly Seth vs Jinder as the Mania main event or anything is it? There's a safe pure heel you're putting in there. They have enough of a history to play off that a little. He's an ideal stopgap opponent for a fighting champion.

It's such a basic thing I'm not even sure why it's now become all this shit. I don't have a problem with Jinder OR HOOK. TK needs thicker skin. Or less coke.

He's doing it so his posts get engagement and his #aewdynamite gets traction. He usually does this stupid stuff 24 hours or so before dynamite. It's a strategy.

It's a stupid strategy that undoubtedly does more harm than good, makes him look small time and sours people on the company.

Hook is awesome.

The strategy itself isn't stupid per se - it's just the way he does it. If he was smart enough to do the twatty stuff and then use it to advertise some of their biggest stars, some clips etc then he'd raise awareness more. But he does nothing to really encourage people to actually watch Dynamite or enjoy the company. He just talks shit and then suggests people watch it. But why would they? What's the hook? (sorry). They've got so much going for them.

There's a school of thought, from AEW die-harders, that it's refreshing to see a big company owner be prepared to defend his company personally on social media and not be afraid to muck in and call things out when he sees them. But unfortunately it's a school for a absolute berks.

TK is just a rich Wrestling Observer subscriber and 'smark' fan who never grew up. He told Moxley he used to sign him when playing EWR, he bought ROH, he signs people who wouldn't look out of place on the old sleaze list that used to do the rounds, of course he's going on Twitter to slag off the WWE for booking Jinder in a title match.

I do think he has a broader point. It just ties in with the idea that when a company has momentum behind it, it is easier to overlook bad booking. You'd imagine an announcement akin to Seth vs Jinder 3 years ago would've been under scrutiny a lot more than it is currently. Similarly, if AEW announced Samoa Joe defending the title against Ryan Nemeth next week I do think people would come for it in a way we haven't seen with Seth vs Jinder.

The issue is that Tony Khan as the main boss is probably the worst person to be on Twitter arguing the toss about this, and he can't do so without coming across as a fucking idiot.

I still think back to when he jumped on Twitter to say he sacked Big Swole because she was a bad wrestler, then in the same tweet promoted a match involving The Bunny.

The USA Network reply was funny, to be fair.

Indeed. He is not a billionaire businessman, he is the privileged son of a billionaire businessman. Has Tony ever actually run a successful, profitable business?

It's a real shame because it's clear nobody is telling him no, and why would they? If I'm getting paid more money than I ever had in my entire life (and, in some cases, was ever likely to make in my entire life) I'd keep my mouth shut and cash the cheque too.

AEW is a Tony Khan vanity project. It's his E-Fed come to life. It's all it will ever be.

Its sad but all any of us can go now is try and enjoy the bits we can while the wheels keep coming further and further off.

He has got a point though, fucking Jinder in 2023, with their roster, bit embarrassing, but not as embarrassing as his tweet about it.

It's hardly embarrassing, it's a relatively trivial TV match. If you want to assign logic to it, it's easy enough. Seth said, on becoming champ, that he wanted to be the opposite of Roman and defend the title at every opportunity. And here he is, true to his word, defending the belt in a TV match against a former WWE Champion.

AEW has done similar in the past, with wrestlers of even worse win/loss records - take FTR defending their tag titles against The Workhorsemen when they wanted to give teams 'opportunities'.

So he says, but I suspect he's using that an excuse to justify his behaviour. Regardless, it has more people talking about a RAW title match than his own programming, so even if he's genuine when he says it's strategy, he's ended up promoting the opposition.

It's also given WWE an opportunity to take a dig at the thin-skinned prick, which I'm sure they will. Have Michael Cole say something like "What a main event we have for you - Seth Rollins defends his title against Jinder Mahal - you'd have to be on something to think that this wasn't a blockbuster match." as Wade Barrett cackles and replies with "A lot of things!"

He's pathetic.

Jinder Mahal is a former world champion. Now we can argue whether that should ever have been the case or not, clearly it shouldn't. But Khan's point would hold a lot more water if Rollins was defending against The Zombie or Gillberg. As good as Hook may be, he's never been presented as a major name and still isn't because Khan is a moron whose only good ideas happen by accident. A lot more people know who Mahal is than know who Hook is and that's partially Khan's fault.

One thing we can agree on is that whether we're talking about drek like Jinder being pushed again because they want numbers in his part of the world, or TK spouting bollocks on his hashtag - we should never confuse the apparent importance of social media reach or "engagements" with that of concentrating on the quality of the product.

Tony has done a cracking job of promoting Jinder Vs Rollins. Now people will tune in to see whether they actually switch the title for the laugh.
