If the journalist had asked Julia about her thoughts on the backstage issues or anything to do with wrestler safety that’s one thing. But they didn’t.

Khan still shouldn’t have been dressed like a tit after Toni Storm left.

It was USA Today - realistically they’re likely only there to ask this question. And frankly, that’s the job of a journalist - you ask the important questions at the earliest opportunity. I don’t know how these pressers work, but if they resemble most other press conferences, you’re selected to ask a question - so you take your opportunity as soon as it comes.

I don’t know where this question came in the presser, but regardless of who was on stage, it should have been the very first thing asked. While his answer was designed to kill the topic, there certainly could have been follow up - for example, how does he ensure safety for women when the company demonstrably places more value in its male wrestlers - heck, I’d quite like someone to ask about the gender pay gap, and to explicitly ask Tony about the stock he places in a women’s division; citing stats on representation on AEW programming to attempt to force him to address common criticisms.

EDIT: @Nick James got there first with a much better post!

As soon as the question arrived, he should have taken the bonnet and specs straight off and given a serious answer like he actually gave a fuck.

In regard the comments about 'safest place in wrestling', a place where the owner feared for his life 5 months ago and there has been multiple fights in the last 12 months is completely laughable.

And that is 2 examples I think we can unanimously agree of Tony Khan being a twat.

The happiest person about all this will be Chris Jericho. Instead of talking about his alleged sexual misconduct, everyone is talking about how his boss is a howling divot.

I was thinking it’s a dead cat strategy straight out of the Tory playbook. It’s like when Mourinho is an arsehole to deflect away from his players, not that I’m comparing Lil Sniff to The Special One.

Much like having acceptance and concession speeches drawn up. What's the quote for if she did sign an NDA on leaving?

You say you can’t discuss it and leave it there. That way you neither confirm or deny it. Wear a clown suit to emphasise the seriousness of your statement

There’s something very Trumpian about Khan in a general sense - every PPV is one of ‘the best ever’, the Continental Classic was ‘the greatest tournament ever’, AEW is the safest wrestling workplace ever - heck, he even boasted about the Brodie Lee tribute show being the ‘best tribute show ever’ - I mean, it was very good; but that seems such an inappropriate thing to say in that context. Who fucking cares how it compares to other wrestling tribute shows?

I’ve paraphrased some of the above - but the exaggerated boasts are very Trump-like, as is his behaviour on Twitter. In terms of personality, I suspect they’re more alike than many would care to admit.

If you google search 'Tony Khan' there is lots of articles about alleged sexual harassment in AEW with an accompanying thumbnail image of Tony Khan in fancy dress.

A PR person's nightmare.

I think everyone is guilty of that hyperbole in wrestling, even we all were saying similar things about the Brodie tribute though I'd assign that to shock, grief and the overall feel good factor of how touching it was on account of how fucking horrible the news was. He's also obviously going to say these things are the best ever because it's all about pushing how great you product is meant to be. It is Trump like when looked at through that prism but I wouldn't compare him to Trump, much like Jericho being possibly a real shit isn't on a Weinstein level yet you can track a similar vein of context.

I still can't believe he kept that fucking wig on. Tony, not Trump.

Especially promoters, it’s essentially their job so you can’t begrudge Sniff for that.

A thin skinned nepo baby connection is certainly there.

He’s said this relatively recently - and it’s a boast he’s made more than once. There’s hyperbole, and there’s speaking with a total lack of awareness and I think Khan is guilty of this quite frequently. When Dynamite was on a real slump, he claimed they were on their best run of television ever; look at the comments last night about workplace safety, or you could look at his behaviour on Twitter. What is that, if not Trump-like?

I’m not saying he’s a deviant like Trump, that he’s as dense as Trump or that they share the same world view. However, I think there are clear behavioural similarities; and that it’s almost certainly a product of pandering - whether it’s through sycophants online, or employees who think it benefits them to behave that way.

That said, our perceptions of other people are obviously all subjective.
