Moderators neil Posted October 25, 2021 Moderators Posted October 25, 2021 Visually I loved Squid Game, but overall didn't find the story as compelling as many people are. It's a story that has been done in many ways before and so really didn't feel "new" to me. The series was pretty clear how it was going to unfold. I liked it, but didn't love it. Interesting discussion I had with the missus was around the level of violence in it and how widespread this has been watched with seemingly not much discussion about that. I personally didn't find it that jarring, while she did, but I could see her point that it is on the face of it incredibly fucked up and graphic. Kind of an interesting sub point that have we as a society become pretty accepting of that kind of stuff in the same way these characters became pretty accepting of it for real. Quote

Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted January 12, 2022 Awards Moderator Posted January 12, 2022 We’re a few months behind the hype but finished Squid Game last night. It’s great isn’t it? Managed to avoid any spoilers so all the nerve wracking bits were suitably so. Didn’t see the twists or the ending coming. Season 2 will probably delve more into the how and why of it all, hopefully they manage that without over-explaining too much. Can Gi-Hun bring the whole thing down? Is the cop dead or did he survive that fall? Have all the squid games been based around kids’ games or was it just this one? Questions I’m not sure I want answers to, but I’ll take them! Quote

The King Of Swing Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 Also late to the party. Just finished watching it now and overall I really enjoyed it. Sure it was ridiculously predictable most of the time, the final episode was a bit of a drag after the games imo and honestly I'm not convinced that the concept has legs outside of one season but overall it was a fun and tragic ride. I suppose they could go down the same road as The Purge series with S2, concentrating more on the inner workings of everything but I suspect that a large amount of fans will be unhappy if they don't get more games.
